Bottle from my local off-licence ‘Wine Rack’. Pours a deep mahogany colour with a large thick creamy beige head. Aromas of dry dark fruits, caramel, some banana, doughy bread and candied sugar. Taste has more dry dark fruits, more caramel, hints of banana, more candied sugar, brown sugar and a leathery note lingering on the palate on the finish. Medium body with average carbonation. Decent above average Dubbel.

Bottle from Drink? Hebden Bridge. Dark amber with a head. Has a pleasant mix of yeasts and dark malts, evident in both aroma and taste, with alcohol noticeable in the former.

Brownish dark red with a massive head: 7cm. Quite persistent, which makes the tasting a challenge. Caramel, toffee, coriander, raisin on the nose. Caramel, toffee, coriander, banana on the nose. Slight nutmeg / spice in addition. Well balanced and smooth. Boozy and slight bitter in the finish.

12 oz bottle on the Nieuw Statendam. Nose is a biscuity Belgian ale with cloves and a bit of banana esters! Hazy dark brown with a medium, heavy lacing beige head. Nice stuff to get on a cruise ship!
