Can from Livonia Liquor. Pours a deep brown to black with a full 2 fingers of brown foam. Cacao nib focused nose with warming alcohol, chocolate malt and coffee aromas. Creamy mouthfeel with loads of baker's chocolate and treacle flavors. Light roasted malt, coffee bitterness on the finish. Well done.

473ml can. Pours an opaque black with a medium, creamy, long lasting, tan head that leaves curtains of lace. Sweet aroma of roasted malt, milk chocolate, cocoa powder, dark chocolate, caramel, vanilla and mocha coffee. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, dark chocolate, cocoa, licorice, earth, ash and vanilla in a dry, bitter coffee finish. Full body with a thick, sticky, creamy, smooth, oily texture and soft carbonation. A sinful dessert beer. ABV is well hidden.

16 ounce can. Opaque black pour. Big frothy tan head. Roasted malt aroma has big milk chocolate notes. Flavor is bittersweet chocolate and roasted malt. Some warming alcohol in middle. Peppery, bitter hops in finish. Quite impressive and flavorful.

Bottled:
Pours black with a large head. Big chocolate aroma with notes of vanilla and some licorice. Thin mouth feel. Taste is chocolate, roasted malt and harsh alcohol.
Smells fantastic but the rest leaves a lot to be desired.

Not a big fan of this one. Leans too far on the sweet side, mixing a deep milk chocolate core with honey and anise, leading to a growing syrupy backbone that gets stronger as the pint warms. Pine-and-mocha bitterness comes through on the back end, but the sweetness never quite abates. Thin texture doesn’t feel all that imperial, and the pour’s mediocre as well, coming out black but watery and almost head-free. Not bad per se, but kind of a bummer; I had high hopes for this bottle. (Love the packaging.)

Dark brown. Thin head. Big choc syrup, sweet and syrupy but a bit thin. So just thin base beer with bland Hershey syrup in it.

Draught at Alibi Room, Vancouver
Black color with beige head. Mild roasted malt aroma, rosty mouthfeel, very dry, with chocolate and ashes.
Really disappointed by the lack of sugars, not as pleasant as I was expecting.
