Who is afraid of darkness? Dark beer made with several roasted barley from England and Germany, cocoa nibs, lactose and just a bit of hops. A Milk Chocolate Stout as soft as velvet, that recalls powdered cocoa and barley coffee. Don’t be scared by its colour.

Flaske 0,33l fra Vinmonopolet, Bestillingsutvalget. Drukket hjemme 4 Aug 12. Svart. Veldig høyt lysebrunt kremaktig skum som varer lenge. Veldig god sjokoladearoma med litt kaffe. Smaken er søt sjokolade og lite annet.

0.33l bottle. This one pours a deep dark brown body and it has an impressive big light tan head that sticks around for a while. Tons of sweet milk chocolate on the aroma, some light ashes, coffee and dark fruits also, but the milk chocolate really sticks itself out here. Quite nice. It's quite lively carbonated and it has a mild oily mouthfeel. In the taste I get dry espresso powder, dry chocolate, smooth roastiness, a little bit of bitter cold coffee, and tones of cardboard in the end. Leaving a mild dry tongue in my mouth. Enjoyable. 01.08.2012

Tap at the Euston Tap - 11/08/12. Off black with a minimal head soon thinning to nothing. Sweet malts and chocolate on the nose. Similar taste to aroma with a little nutiness. Medium bodied with a sweet finish.

Bottle at home. Pours a black colour with a big frothy brown head. Nice and powerful roasted aroma with coffee, dark wood, dark bitter chocolate, hint of smoke and some lactose. Lighter flavours of roasted malt, coffee, and dark chocolate. Slick and sparkly mouth feel. Bitterness = light+. Wonderful aroma but more easy in the mouth. A really nice and easy-drinking milk stout.

33cl bottle thanks to unstablefable. Pours opaque black with a decent head which disappears a bit quick. The nose has something slightly smokey/earthy with a slight creamy but not the sweet creamy notes I was expecting. The taste has a real smokiness with the liquorice thing again. The palate is medium bodied at least with a dry but medium textured with a dry and quite elegant finish. Overall, I don’t think this is a milk stout, maybe closer to a dry stout. It’s good though!

Pitch black color, steady beige head. A bit tart, lactose aroma. Light-bodied. Light chocolate, coffee, some milky lactose and hints of vegetables. Maybe tap not in top condition but quite ok milk stout.
