Bottle at the Essen Christmas Beer Festival. Poured a dark ruby red with a round tan head. The aroma is rich fruity and alcoholic. The flavour is medium bitter and yeasty. A heart warming ale and very drinkable.

10th July 2010
Cloudy brown beer. Nice creamy off white head. Semi soft palate. Milky semi sweet malt. A little toffee. Some subtle well blended fruits, peach and orange. Finishes dry and soft and a little spicy. Well joined up. Bitterish aftertaste.

25 cl. draft @ Chez Moeder Lambic Fontainas – served to me as usual in impeccable conditions – the colour is a mixture of dark amber and forest fruits and is graced by a creamy, slightly tanned head – on the nose I am picking up lots of mashed forest fruits coupled with slightly caramelises malts – taste is equally fruity with lots of mashed forest fruits, sweet caramel and sweet malts with a dash of overripe berries it leads up to a finish which is dominated by overripe strawberries – both the taste as well as the body remind me somewhat of a red fruits smoothie – I don’t know about the other ratings but as someone who likes sweet Belgian beers, to me this was just excellent

Tap at Moeder Lambic Fontainas. Pours hazy. Dark amber with a thick, creamy head. Big leafy aroma, some mild caramel and toast. Big sweet flavor, sweet bread, light spices, heavy and dry leaves. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Warming finish, dry, leafy bitterness, mild fruits, leather, toasty sugar. Pretty nice.

Sampled at OBER Kerstbierfestival Essen 2011. Smell malts, caramel and some fruits. Taste malts, spices, lightly some fruits. A little disappointing imo.

14/07/2011 75cl bottle @ Klaas' place - BB: 17/11/12 (2011-326)
Pretty cloudy ruby red beer, little brown specks floating around. Yellow to orange head, creamy, stable and adhesive. Aroma: fruity, red berries, little bitter, some caramel coming to mind as well. MF: soft carbon, medium to full body. Taste: fruity and a bit sour, malts, some hops. Aftertaste: bit of sour again, fruity hops. Doesn't remind me of a typical Christmas beer, but maybe that's a good thing!

Bouteille 75cl. Cuivre, beige.
