Bottle shared with and courtesy of heavy (thanks!) Poured a nice murky darker orange body with a big bubbly head that went away slower than I expected at first. The noise was spicy, malty, some alcohol... bit sweet. The taste was somewhat simple but quite nice. Violets, candy, caramel... smooth mouthfeel, flowery maltiness. some chewy hop in the aftertaste. Nicely delicate but not a world beater.

26/05 0.33 l bottle from belgianshop.com. Poured murky copper orange body with bigger fluffy head, but it didn’t lived for long though. Aroma is OK, but not so nice as it is often in tripels, some fruits from old yeast. I appreciate sugar wasn’t added to have its distinct flavor, and although it’s pretty bitter it have subtle sweetness which specially emerge in aftertaste, which is very long and pleasant. Back to flavor, it’s dominated by orange, citrus and that yeast which made its job. Not so usual but I must confess interesting and I’m not complaining, although there are much better tripels.

Golden pour, Def. matly taste with some honey. Yeast is present, typical of many Belgians. Excellent tripel. Had the Belgian version called Gouyasse and was suprised to find it available here in the US. Serving in Gouyasse tulip glass.

Bottle: Poured a murky copper blonde with a huge lacing white head. The aroma is fruit with a hint of orange peel. Taste is sweet fruit with continued orange peel, also nice spices. The alcohol is hide well in this, but that dry warm mouth finish tells me there is nice kick here.

33 cL bottle, trade with Dedollewaitor. Pours hazy orange with a white head. Aroma is light caramel malt, yeast spiced and light orange fruity. Smooth sweet caramel malt flavour, light sugarish sweet and with a mellow yeast note. Goes into a more spiced flavour with a light orange fruit note. Ends with a fruity note at first but gains a mild woody flavour and dryness into the far finish. Nice and quite interesting.

Bottled. Golden colour with mediumsized white creamy head, lacing. Aroma is fruity, slightly yeasty, grassy and mildly earhty. Also some mild notes of sweet alcoholic notes. Flavour is fruits, earth, some grassyness as well as herbs and mild spices. The alcohol doesn’t show that much in the flavour, but does give a very big warming feel when going down the throat.

Had the pleasure of sampling this at the 1/27/2008 Pittsburgh ratebeer.com gathering and festival upstairs, Sharp Edge Creekhouse. It will be a long time, if ever I am invited again and I see a spread of bottles like I did there - ever again. I am not good enough for the beers that were that we sampled! For example, how about this beer; GOLLIATH, thanks Ryan! Sweetish aroma, typical of trippels, perhaps some tartness on the olfactory. Cloudy pale yellow. Goodly carbonation. Enjoyable bubbliness for a trippel. Rather strong on the palate. Alky personality is not well hidden, it is confident. Overall, quite a decent palate for a trippel.
