Sweet, roast malts, big coffee and chocolate all star in this beer. Brewed with lactose to smooth the bitterness of darker malts and add a light creaminess to this sessionable dark beer. We use wonderful whole bean Hasbean coffee for this brew.

From cask at In de Wildeman. Clear, very dark brown to black with a thin, creamy, brown head. Roasty-malty aroma of coffee, dark chocolate and some caramel. Sweetish, roasty-malty taste of coffee, dark chocolate and caramel, followed by a short, roasty-bitter finish. Medium body, slightly creamy mouthfeel, flat. Nice!

5/XII/15 - on tap @ Billies Bier Kafétaria (Antwerpen) - BB: n/a (2015-1685) Thanks to my wife for sharing the beer!
Clear dark brown beer, almost black, creamy irregular beige head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: very roasted, cocoa powder, coffee, vanilla, caramel, bit sweet. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: very roasted start, cocoa powder, caramel, malty, grains, bit sourish. Aftertaste: coffee, pretty roasted, bitter touch, "green" impression, spicy, some cinnamon, bitter, hoppy, come charcoal, green banana, little sweet in the finish. Amazing for a low alcohol beer!

Black beer with a thin, creamy head. Smell is coffee and strong, bitter chocolate. Flavour is a touch more easy-going than I expected. Malt, coffee, chocolate and a proper mily ky quality to match the name. Not the heartiest, richest stout you’ll have (or even milk stout) but it’s tasty, the flavours linger and the balance is great.

3.8%, 500ml, pours black with a limited but fine brown head. Aroma of a lot of coffee, chocolate, toasted and roasted malts, vanill, hops. very nice.. Taste are reasonable to robust coffee and roasted/burnt makt bitter, moderately sweetness, vanilla, milk chocolate, smooth and soft in texture, something sharp, long coffee and roasted aftertaste, reasonable body. low carbonation, .... you have to appreciate strong coffee brews, otherwise this isn’t your beer....occasionally you’ll find one that is outstanding... and that’s this one.... nice tastefull beer with limited alcohol... --- Beer merged from original tick of Weird Beard Black Perle on 17 May 2018 at 15:03 - Score: 8

Bottle from a corner shop. Appearance - opaque black with a lovely fawn head. Nose - mostly coffee but with some chocolate. Taste - more of the same. Enough chocolate to make it pleasant. Palate - surprising body for the ABV. Creamy with a dry finish. Overall - not a coffee in beer fan and often doubt the virtues if weak stout but a pat on the back to the brewer for making this interesting yet balanced.
