At LIBF as Cold Hawaii. Apparently a ’gruit’ beer, so a spice beer without hops but with spruce and pine shoots instead - another one with local natural ingredients, I see a link with Noma’s kitchen and indeed Thisted’s beers seek connection with the new Nordic cuisine. Moussy, lacing, egg-white head, hazy amberish blonde colour. Aroma of dusty old cloth and jute bags, very old dried kitchen herbs, dried spruce, dried orange peel, dry moss, very low in fruitiness as can be expected: this is apparently a lager. Sweetish onset but no fruity esters, bit oily malt body, somewhat caramelly, ending in the bunch of very old, dusty dried spices announced by the aroma, and effectively without hop bitterness. Not very pleasant, if you ask me.

16/V/16 - sample as Cold Hawaii @ Leuven Innovation - BB: n/a (2016-589) Thanks to the Belgian RB crew for sharing today's beers!
Note: sampled together with the Thagaard, even just by colour two completely different beers, despite them being aliased on ratebeer.com at the moment of tasting.
Clear red orange beer, no head. Aroma: paint, bit chemical, bubble gum, weird. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: very malty, weird, paint, bit dirty. Aftertaste: fruity, overripe fruits, chemical, nope, big fat nope.

Sampled as Cold Hawaii Amber Lager Copper-coloured, no head left. Gale, and other herbs in the nose - quite good. Bit sweet too, as caramel. Watered-down caramel with sweet gale - as Smithwicks ought to be, IMO. Slick, light body. Not half bad!
