Sample at Aficionado’s during the "Big Bad Bottle Share" on 02/10/2017. Black pour with some brown around the edges, and a medium thick light brown head that diminishes gradually to a film. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted coffee, malt and chocolate. Full-bodied with a strong coffee character and flavors of roast malt, vanilla and milk chocolate in the background. The finish is roasty with a lingering vanilla mocha aftertaste. Good beer all around.

Bottle shared. Pitch black pour with a thick espresso head. Notes of roasted coffee beans, sherry, molasses, subtle peppers, dark chocolate, cocoa. Full body, smooth texture, light carbonation and a roasty chocolatey bitter-sweet finish.

22 oz bottle. The beer is black with just a thin band of brown around the edge of the glass. Small dark brown head. A layer of fine foam hangs around for a bit but it mostly fizzles away. The aroma is roast, nice coffee, vanilla, big chocolate base, light caramel and some milky sweetness. It has a sweetened milk coffee flavor. Lots of dark chocolate. Vanilla is relatively strong but doesn’t take center stage. The taste has a nice mix of sweetness and darker bitter flavors. Big milk chocolate and caramel base. Coffee is fairly strong. Moderate roast. Not quite as much vanilla as in the aroma. Very nice mix of flavors. Smooth and full mouthfeel. Reminds me of Speedway, which I love. Very good stuff.

650 ml bottle at home. Black color with brown head. Aroma in the beginning is full of green pepper.. Lots of green pepper. As it gets warmer the aroma gets better too, roasted malty, coffee, cocoa, chocolate, light spicy. Taste is much better than the aroma, sweet and bitter, coffee, chocolate, cocoa, vanilla. Full silky oily body with soft carbonation.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a dark brown creamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of nice floral coffee notes with some chocolate and vanilla notes is quite exquisite. Taste is a nice mix of floral coffee notes with some chocolate and vanilla, light roasted malt with some residual sugar also discernable. Body is full with nice creamy texture and good carbonation with no apparent alcohol. This si a great stout and probably better than the barrel-aged version.

Pours out as a dense, oily, opaque black with a thick tan head. Rich aroma with coffee, chocolate, roast malts. Complex. The flavor is sweet and rich with chocolate, espresso, roast malts all in a creamy full body. Very tasty.
