At the mouth of the Camel Estuary in Rock, lies the treacherous Doom Bar sandbank, the inspiration for this moreish amber ale.
The sandbank is revered as a formidable nautical challenge that should be approached with respect and navigated with skill.

Clear amber with a frothy off-white head and a malty nose with hints of floral hops. Light bodied, it’s sweet and malty up front but a touch of floral hop bitterness cuts in before a dry finish.

Bottle. Clear amber with a small white head. Aroma of nuts, malts and caramel. Taste of malts, dried fruits, caramel, hints of citrus fruits, toffee, nuts and some herbs. Low to moderate bitterness. Low carbonation. It’s alright but pales drastically in terms of personal enjoyment compared to the cask version.

Half pint at Rummer Tavern, Cardiff. A copperish to amber pour with a greenish cast. Slightly cloudy. Thin layer of an off-white cream. Aroma is coffee, funky towel, earth. Carbonation isn't there at all. Medium crisp, which renders it rather bland. Good bitterness, though. Abrupt aftertaste with new hints of coffee. Nothing out of this world.
