At the mouth of the Camel Estuary in Rock, lies the treacherous Doom Bar sandbank, the inspiration for this moreish amber ale.
The sandbank is revered as a formidable nautical challenge that should be approached with respect and navigated with skill.

Amber with off white head - Malt aroma with hints of hops - Malt body with caramel flavour with hints of hop bitterness to balance - The malt flavour with caramel goes into the finish - This was nice

Tight light brown head left a spotty cover on a tea coloured still body. Sweet, malt & spiced aroma. Medium bodied, sharp on the front with a smoother back. Well balanced tastes of malt, sweet stewed fruit, spices & tea tastes with lightly hopped finish. Standard

Bottle BBE in 11 months. Pours amber, slight beige head that leaves minor lacing but even that dissipates after a while. Aroma of caramel, malts, roastiness, light spicy hop. Low to moderate carbonation, fairly light body a little watery. Taste of toasted malts, sweetness, minor bitterness but no big flavours. I'm finding that some ales are understated but the sum of its parts combine to make a fine beer; other ales are just lacking. I think this is one of the latter.

Can. Nose is caramel, sweet malt, slightly doughy, slight spice. Taste is sweet malt, caramel, slight dough, slight spicy herbal hops touch of toffee. Mouthfeel verging on thin. It's a thing that exists.

Bottle from Tesco. Poured pale amber with an off-white head. Aroma of caramel, hops, malt, fruit and stewed veg. Medium sweetness, light bitterness. Moderate body, watery texture, average carbonation. Better than some of the mass marketed bottled ales I suppose.
