Brewed in collaboration with our friends Brouwerij Alvinne. The nose is complex with cloves and sweet candy like notes mixing with earthy, floral and wine like characteristics. The flavour is deep leading with classic triple flavours of sweet-malt, figs and a touch of honey. The finish is peppery with some fruit courtesy of the wine barrels. The mouthfeel is round and warming.

Bottle from Ales by Mail. Pours hazy orange with a thin white head. Bretty aromas, peach and white wine. Taste is light booze heat, white wine, wood, nice yeast character. The barrel aging effect is very prominent. Opens up more as it warms.

Level 42 Bottleshare. Thanks to Dave 'expert pour' Willis. Hazy gold beer, tidy cream colour head. Smooth palate, semi dry and with decent fine carbonation. Smooth malts with a rich grainy sweetness, a good thing on this beer. Light spice. Mild white wine and a touch of dried fruits. Light finish. Decent idea, fairly well executed. I'd have liked even more barrel, but that's probably just me.

White wine barrel aged tripel made by Beavertown in collaboration with Alvinne, bottle from Gedeelde Vreugde. Irregularly lacing, eggshell-white, medium thick, moussy head over a misty orangey peach blonde beer. Aroma of peach juice, candied apricot, sweet ripe gooseberries, white grapes, sweet sherry or even white port wine, buttered bread, ginger, yoghurt, fresh cloves, pineapple, sweat, margarine. Fruity onset, pineapple and peach with a dash of banana, sweet with a potent tart undertone (as usual in wine barrel aged beers), drying and very white wine-like indeed, bit greasy and buttery, pleasantly smooth mouthfeel. Soft doughy malt sweet core, honeyish sweetness lingering yet becoming drier in the finish thanks to the wine tartness and the tannic effects of the wood; remains altogether juicy, with some herbal, earthy hop bitterishness, warming alcohol and the expected aftertaste of dry white wine. Alvinne's present day quality standard, which I think is a lot better and more to the point than in their earlier years, is very obvious here even if Beavertown is responsible for the initiative - and in what is essentially a Belgian style beer updated by the wine barrel aging, that is far from a bad thing. Not everybody likes wine barrel aged blonde Belgians, but I sure do and here the wine factor is, however strong, elegantly interwoven with the basic sweet tripel profile. Would love to taste this with a few years of age on it, too.

Bottle picked up at Oddbins Marylebone, split at Skaal CPH, 11/11/17. Lighly hazed golden amber with a decent beige cap. Nose is tarte stewed fruits, funk, wooded, light spice, stale apple pie. Taste comprises musty fruits, funk, light spice, caramel, fruit loaf, honey, grains, light yeast esters, candied fruits. Medium plus body, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a nip of alcohol. Decene for style ... the slight funky edge takes away from the sweetness and provides balance.

Bottle at L42 - big thanks to Dave. Cheers! It pours hazy orange - amber - dark gold with a small white head. The aroma is musty, tart plummy vibes, damson, brown bread, vanilla, candied stuff and damp wood. The taste is crisp, dry, actually fairly tart, earthy, oily, peach, apricot, sweet candied stuff, damp wood, mouldy stuff, must and old sweets. Finish is oily and sweet. Medium body and fine carbonation. Interesting, but don't thinks its very cohesive.

Bottle shared in London - thanks to Dave. Pours unclear, glowing gold with a creamy, white head. The aroma holds a bit of ripe white grape, white bread, medium sweet flavour. Light to medium sweet flavour, really musty, some old grains, bread crust, dirty hay. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Musty finish, fairly dry, with more old grains, aged lemon peel, cellar. Not what I expected. Lots of old wood in the aftertaste. So so.
