The first of our foray into lager beer, Hop Rocker is a high impact, hoppy behemoth made with 100% malt. Since 2007 we have been obsessive about quality, using only the best ingredients to ensure the flavour and craftmanship of the beer in your glass. Hop Rocker is testament to that. The malt base gives this beer a sweet, balanced complexity while the combination of New Zealand and German hops merges new world tropical juiciness with old world peppery spice.

Can from Asda; clear golden amber pour with a bubbly off white head, aroma has heavy malts and tangerine, taste has up front malts, caramel, with some citrus and a lightly bitter finish, a bit basic but cheap.

Tap at Hair of the Dog, Phloen Chit, Bangkok. Poured a slightly hazy golden colour with a lasting frothy white head and some clingy lace. The aroma is malt, light citrus fruit, dry hop. The flavour is moderate bitter, with a light, slightly watery, mineral, earthy, woody, light dry floral hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Much fuller than I expected for an IPL. Strong biscuit with a soft lychee finish.

It doesn't really get much more by-the-numbers than this. Clear, golden, a little fruity, zesty hop, a little maltiness. Crisp and fresh and perfectly drinkable but doesn't offer anything memorable.

At a tasting, small bubbly creamy head, clear quite deep yellow color, aroma of yeast, herbs, and wood, lots of green notes in flavor, lightish maltiness, a bit aggressive medium shrubby bitterness. Fair and well made.
