Lekkere bittere nasmaak.

Sampled from 0.3 l bottle from local ’trinkgut’, best before December 2017. Clear, golden yellow with a medium large, frothy, stable, white head. Sweetish, grainy and slightly grassy aroma of grains, straw, metal and slight hints of citrus. Sweetish, slightly grassy, a bit grainy and minimally fruity taste of straw, grains and some citrus, followed by a short, slightly grassy-bitter, minimally metallic finish. Thin to medium body, smooth and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Not bad actually!

0,5L Can at home, from Plus supermarket. Clear pale golden with white foamy head. Sweet malts, cardboard, chalk, hint of dough. Light sweet and light bitter. Body is quite full for a pilsener, texture a bit chalky, carbonation average. Alright for its price.

Alfa’s pilsener trying to reach the level of a Bohemian urtyp but getting nowhere near, although I would prefer this over most other Dutch standard lagers. Shows an irregular, dense, creamy white foam which slowly dissolves and a pale golden blonde, cristal clear colour; pure but weak aroma of lightly sweetish pilsener malt, raw grains, straw-like hops and minerals (the spring water shining through). Taste clear and light maltiness, clearly mineral-like (the purity of a kind of ’mountain stream’ effect I appreciate in a good ’pils’ comes nearby at times), in the finish dryer, a bit cheesy, with a mild, but spicy, short hop bitterishness. Better than average in my opinion - at least as far as Dutch ’pils’ concerns, but I would not consider that a great achievement, all in all.
