330ml bottle: BB 1st Feb 2019. Obtained from Chez Sophie in Shrewsbury. Drank at home on 18th Oct 2017, fourth beer in a Dark Beer tasting session. Poured into a Forbidden Fruit chalice, looked awesome, deep, rich tanned head, black body. Malty, malty and malty, it's malty with strong malty aromas and flavours. Dissecting the maltiness into different aromas and tastes is difficult because they all interact with each other: is there chocolate, yes, is there coffee, yes, is there smokiness, no (good). Really liked this, good alcohol kick and plenty to test your senses with both the nose and mouth.

330ml bottle. Quasi black colour with small to average, frothy, half-way lasting, moderately lacing, beige to tan head. Roasty dark malty, chocolately and minimally ashy smoky aroma, notes of dark chocolate, hints of blueberry, a touch of smoke and cold ashes, vanilla, tar and liquorice. Taste is roasty and chocolately dark malty, minimally unpleasant, papery root beer-like interference near the finish.

Pitch black, beige head which soon fizzles out. Coffee and vanilla in the aroma. It’s creamy, with coffee, chocolate and vanilla with a little anise. Dry, earthy malt in the aftertaste. For the strength it’s too drinkable by half.
