You’ve made it to 547 Haight Street. This destination is more San Francisco than Rice A Roni, Chinatown, and Lombard Street combined. Welcome to Broadway for brewers everywhere. Everyone who is anyone has poured their kegs here. For the last 20 years, this place has launched careers, confirmed legacies, and since 1987 the only name you need to know is David Keene.
Take a seat. Tip Strong. Nod appreciatively and don’t ask stupid questions. Welcome to Big Daddy’s House known to most simply as "The T-Room." Here the bartenders are fluent in English, German, Flemish, French, Waloon and Czech. But they’re most known for their American Lip Service. Watch it. The lady with the jet black hair behind the bar eats idiots for lunch.

Courtesy of tpd975. Pours hazy deep gold with bright white head. The aroma is big tartness up front and right up the nose followed by smooth grains, a mild bit of lemon, apples and a touch of oak. The taste, like the nose, starts with bold tartness building quickly to a full rolling boil of tart daggers. It then seems to even out a tad with faint fruity notes of apples and lemons. The tartness rides right into the finish.

Bottle at MesandSim’s tasting Aug 09. Thanks to MadMitch for this, cheers Ken, this was on my must have list. Unattractive thick gold cloudy beer. Lacks a bit of farmyard funk on the aroma which I want from my sour ales. Some funk and lemon, but more muted than Belgian lambics. Very sour finish. Smooth lemon. Very drinkable, good funky lemon and good flavour in the mouth. I suppose a bit unfair to compare an American sour with Belgian lambics, but this doesn’t stand up against lambics. That funk just isn’t there. We had a Girardin black label gueuze earlier in the day and then a J&J Blauw afterwards and the aroma of those 2 just blows virtually all American sours away. Russian River beers are just about the only ones that even get close.

A damn good sour. On tap at the Toronado SD with dasilky1 and others. Pours with a hazed golden body and a small white head. Aroma is heavenly after a two hour and forty-five minute drive! Must, controlled funk, leather, citrus, grapefruit, apricot and sheer awesome sourness! Taste is sour with citrus, leather wood, and more awesomeness, apples, horse hair, pineapple and a bit of brandy. So much cleaner and more enjoyable than the Russian River Beatification Batch 002 that they served later in the day (although that is also a great beer). Mouthfeel is super dry with a puckering effect. Tingling carbonation, and BONE DRY. Awesome!

Bottle at Craig’s bit tasting, Edinburgh, 21-03-09 thanks to Craig for hosting and for getting hold of some great beers. Pours warm gold with a white head. Tart and citric aroma touch musty and some wet wool. Feels nice and bubbly in mouth little champagne like in fact I get asti spumante (attended too many cheap and cheerful weddings where champagne was obviously not an option) Finishes quite dry and fruity. Very likeable. A8 A5 F8 P4 OV15 4.0

Bottle at home with Fin ... Thanks to AgentSteve for this one ... amber ... very subdues but again typical sour nose ... again tart ... but not so obviously citrus ... more vinegar ... no real depth to me ... quite drying ....with a little lemon juice in it end... ANotherGLad to have tried but no thanks to any more ...2.7 Tk2 Remains of the Bottle the next day ... slightly hazy amber (bit of sediment from pour ... slightly sweet tart lemon nose ... light citrus more sour orange than lemon and definitly some vinegar with a little bite at back of throat ... dry linger ...

Bottle 75cl.[ Courtesy of KimJohansen ].Unclear medium orange color with a average to large, creamy to frothy, excellent lacing, fully lasting, white head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy citrus sour, fruity, apricot, peach. Flavor is heavy sweet and moderate to light heavy acidic with a average to long duration. Not at sour and tart as i expected it to be, a nice sour but some of the belgium stuff i much more complex. Body is medium, texture is watery, carbonation is soft. [20081122]

Hazy orange with medium beige head. Sour aroma with notes of barnyard, orange, vinegar and wood. Sour flavour with notes of wood, barnyard and grapefruit. Sour finish. Misses the pureness that lambic has. Not dry enough.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of KimJohansen. Pours a very hazy and opaque golden with a creamy head that leaves a curtain of lacework. Fresh, sharp Brett aroma. Medium body with very dry vinegary notes and a dry, lightly bitter and sourish finish. A very decent beer, but not really on par with the very best Belgian sours - and yeah, I know this technically isnt a sour. 221108

750 ml bottle courtesy of mreusch. Batch 1. Pour is a cloudy hazy golden orange, pretty much no white head. Aroma of muted sour tartness, some bathroom odors, and finally some signature Lost Abbey yeastiness. Taste is tart, slightly husky sourness, muted taste. The finish is a bit dirty, not entirely pleasant. Palate is medium, and mouth coating. Overall, this was just ok, certainly not bad, just a bit underwhelming. Thanks for sharing, Matt, I didn’t think I would have a chance to try this one.

Bottle at Toronado during the RBSG Pub Crawl Tour on 08/01/2008. Clear golden body with a small off-white head. Sour, but sweet aroma, with some light apple and fruit. Sweet sour flavor with light fruit. Medium light body with moderately high carbonation.
