Tap at Mikkeller Tokyo. Yeasty, estery nose with lots of prune and currant aromas. Some rum-raisin like cakey sweetness as well. Body seems a little thin and it drinks kind of one-dimensional for a quad. Fruity and sweet. Aroma: sweet malt and dark berries with akcohol. Flavour: sweet ripe fruits and dark berries with caramel notes and a warm alcoholic mouthfeel. Colour: dark reddish brown with a tan head. From: Salling Aarhus Feb. 2016.

Tap at Erzbierschof Zurich. A rather atypical Quad compared to the Holy Trinity. Sweet and full of berries, but definitely weaker as I would have expected from 10% ABV quad.

Bottle. Dark brown pour. Aroma of fruity yeast, ripe fruit, raisin and caramel. Taste has lots of raisin, caramelised malt and fruity belgian trappist yeast. Quite nice dark trappist ale.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 26D). Bottle 33 cl - Batch unkwnown (BBF 19/01/21). AROMA: a nice and sweet malt aroma with notes of dark caramel, some plums and a peppery background. balanced alcohol presence without harsh and solventy caracter. no hop aroma. APPEARANCE: dark ruby color and clear. large moussy, light brown head with average retention. TASTE: a nice malty flavour with caramelized malt notes. some dark dried fruit notes (plums). low bitterness with a semi-sweet finish. PALATE: medium to medium-full body. moderate-high carbonation. noticeable alcohol warmth but smooth. OVERALL: a very nice and balanced dark belgian ale-style beer with a lot of the traditional elements and without hot and solventy alcohols.

Bottle from Cork & Cask. Deep ruby/bown body with a thin beige head. Nice lacing. Aroma of plum, chocolate covered raisins, toffee apple and nuts. Flavour of treacle, prunes, flat Dr Pepper and caramelised sugar. Thin to medium body with a light mouthfeel. Soft fizz. Ridiculously easy drinking - tastes like 6.0% ABV.
