(bottle) Dark and hazy ruby amber effervescent hue with a mid-sized stable beige foam. Moderately sweet malty and yeasty aroma with dried fruits, caramel and liquorice. Bittersweet flavour, medium to full bodied, almost crispy mouthfeel. Medium sweet malty taste with roasted notes, liquorice and a fruity tinge. Balanced bittersweet finish, fruity and malty with liquorice and a warming but not disturbing alcohol presence. A good and quaffable top-fermented (Dubbel-)Bock.

(Bottle 33 cl) Dark, almost black with a tall, handsome light brown head. Slightly hazy. Rather burned yet sweetish malt, but in no way too sweet. Fatastic full body and a fine long aftertaste. Comes quite close to an Abbey Dubbel and it is also top fermented. 311003

Collapsing, short-lived beige head, slightly irregular; very dark brown-red beer, hazy. Very fruity nose; plums, fresh dates, touch of liquorice. Quite bitter taste, quite harsh-woody. Again liqourice flavour, without virtually any sweetness. Faint fruity flavour/palate, all under the overwhelming liquorice/harsh woody imprint. Finishes vinous, especially warming up - bit like wormwood bittered wine. MF is harsh, adstringent, medium to well bodied. Beatiful aroma, but the bitterness is really harsh. Pity, as the vinousness at the end hints towards better things.

Cloudy dark amber color. Light roasted malt and caramel aroma. Characterized by the caramel and nuts, but not too much; spicy; correctly bitter. When warmer, a very nice hop note. Thanks Jens (Ungstrup) for this bottle.

An unclear dar red beer with a beige head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel. The flavor is quite complex; sweet malty with notes of caramel, raisins, and plums. A nice beer.

Sampled at Utrechts Bokbierfestival : Dark, creamy appearance. Weak malty aroma. Sweet malts, caramelly taste. Double-like finish, bit acidic maybe. I liked this one.
