This traditional Flanders-style sour red ale was aged for 2.5 years in red wine barrels.
It is named in honor of a very energetic cardinal who used to fly around the outside of the brewery during the first half of 2011 when this beer was originally brewed.

[5/3/14] Draught sample at Copenhagen Beer Celebration. 4th session. Clear red-amber. Nice sourish oaky aroma with cherries. Sour flavor, kinda funky, with oak, cherries and berries. Medium-bodied.

Draught @ CBC 2014. Pours dark amber with a offwhite head, lacings. Aroma of malt, caramel, light sourness, wine grapes, wood, berries. Flavor is malt, caramel, oak, sourness, redwine, grapes, berries, light vinegar. Thin to medium body, average carbonation, light sour acidic finish. 030514

Smakprov på CBC 2014. Smak och doft av trä, äpple, vinäger, honung, sirap, karamell, fat och röda bär. En bra flamländsk rödöl med mycket karaktär från rödvinsfaten. Bra syrlighet, frisk och bra balans mellan smakerna. Mer av detta tack!

Smakprov på CBC 2014. En bra flamländsk rödöl med mycket karaktär från rödvinsfaten. Röda syrliga druvor, mjölksyra, vinäger, trä, honung. Snäll syra, bra balans, friskt, lätt drucket och gott.

Taste is slightly sour-ish, red berries, oak, sorrel, dried fruits, white wine barrel, hay, grass, berry skin. Medium bitterness, dry mouthfeel. Nice.

Sampled @ CBC 2014. Clear rusty orange to brownish color, small off-white head. Smell and taste lightly malts, lightly herbs or spices, a fruitpeel-sourness, a touch of green apple. Decent body and carbonation.

Bottle with thanks to Eric! Pours hazy blackberry hazel with a fairly fizzy head that mostly dissipates quickly leaving a small tan residual that laces decently. Aroma is very oaky, tart cherries, some bready dark fruity malts. Flavor is light sweet initially fading into a light tartness, lots of oak flavor and tannins, but surprisingly not a lot of red wine vinousness. Some semi-sweet malt base pokes through as well. Minimal funk; mostly just a clean light tartness. This one is very easy to drink, but not overly complex.

Bottle thanks to Rainer. Pours a cloudy amber with medium frothy white head. The aroma is funk, oak, and wine. Thin mouthfeel with light funk, sour fruit and nice tart finish. Very good!
