We took the traditional IPA, originally shipped from England to India in the 1700′s, and made it bolder and more flavorful—American Style. We added new varieties of highly aromatic American hops to create a distinctive bitterness profile and an incredible hop character.

Amber, bit hazy, 1cm frothy head dissipates to thin layer, reasonable lacing.
Aroma of citrus hops, grapefruit, sweet citrus fruits, sweet light malt in the background, some resin, aroma restrained compared with other US IPA’s but good.
Taste of sweet light caramel malts, grassy citrus hops, citrus fruits, resiny, well blended, good flavour, more subtle than usual.
Palate - soft to medium carb, medium body, bit oily texture, quite smooth. Sweet, with a citric bitterness. Finish is a continuation of the main flavours, but the bitterness comes through more, then lingers with some grapefruity slight sourness, clearing away from the palate. Understated compared to some US IPAs.
Good IPA, though more subtle and less complex than other US IPAs.

Pours light orange with a foamy head. Aroma has notes of fruits, hops and malts. Taste is fruity and quite malty with notes of hops. Slightly sweet and sticky finish. Okay IPA, but nothing special.

A very serviceable IPA. Pours a nice hazy, golden yellow with good-sized head. Citrus flavors and pine hop bite. etc., etc. It’s a good one but nothing special.

Keg, half pint, first American at Meet the Brewer at Cask Pub & Kitchen, Pimlico. Served comfortably chilled. Almost clear, golden body. Patchy surface, spotty lace. Inviting aroma of fresh fruity hops. Orange and grapefruits in a well hopped taste profile that brings notes a sweet malts beneath it all. Delicious bitter endnotes. Clean and refreshing (London, 30.07.2011).

On tap at CASK Pub & Kitchen, London on 30th July 2011. Clear gold with off-white head and scattered lacing. Yeasty aroma/cheese notes. Very hoppy liquid. Citric lemon/grapefruis; biscuit malt in aftertaste. Earthiness in-mouth too. Zingy mouthfeel.

12 ounce bottle courtesy of Brew Engineer at the 14th Richmond Ratebeer Gathering, 3/19/11. Pours a hazy orange color with a medium creamy tan head. Good head retention and lacing. This one has a few years on it. Big toffee notes in the aroma with citrus hop notes. The taste is citrus and leafy hops, toffee and caramel notes in the finish. Barley like now but still a good beer. Medium bodied.

Bottled. Nose of over-ripe tropical fruit, like durian and rancid mango, plus peaches. Very fruity flavor but super dry. Tropical fruits, grass, hay. Great stuff. Draught at Cask Pub and Kitchen, July 2011: 7/3/7/4/15. Deep gold with a fine, low head. Big citrus nose, grapefruits, touch of tropicals, very nice. Sweet honey fruit salad flavor, grapefruit, orange, bit pf pineapple, hay. Nice. Good bitter finish. Refreshing and good.

12 oz bottle into tulip. Pours a hazy cantaloupe hue with a one-finger off-white head that recedes slowly into a ring. Aroma is cat piss, floral, grapefruit. Taste is perfectly balanced. Carbonation is soft and the body is full. Good.

355ml bottle. Pours a cloudy orange with some head - although not substantial, some lace remains throughout. The nose is hard to define as it’s a combination of the green hops and sweet malt - it’s a bit like sultanas and there’s a pistachio thing going on too. The taste has more sultanas and maybe oranges and a big cake mixture note on the end. The palate medium to big in structure, with a nice creamy texture and a lovely refreshing finish. Overall, a really intriguing and well balanced beer.
