Once upon a time it was the most award winning Pizza Port beer of all time. Now it has found a new home at The Lost Abbey.
A massive brown ale base that is made from four fermentable sugars including Malted Barley, Raisins, Candi Sugar and Sour Cherries, this beer is fully fermented before being placed in Bourbon barrels where the beer ages for one year with the Sour Cherries and the wild Brettanomyces yeast that we inoculate the barrels with.
One of the most complex and unique beers we make each year.

After no pop when the cork was removed, the beer pours a murky reddish-brown color with a minimal off-white head that dissipates quickly. Spotty lacing. Aroma of tart fruit, malt and oak. Full-bodied, somewhat flat and syrupy with flavors of sour cherries, vinous oak and subtle buttery bourbon. The finish is oaky with a black cherry aftertaste. Above average, but would have been stellar if it wasn’t so flat.

Pours dark reddish brown. No head or carbonation. Sour aroma of cherries, raspberries, blueberries, oak casks and glue with raisins in the background. Tart flavour of cherry stones, raspberries and oak casks with sweet raisins in the background. Long after taste. Very intriguing.

Hazy red brown colour. Low carbonation. Very complex aroma of sour fruit, raisins and oak barrels. Nice sour taste with some sweet hints. One of the best beers i ever drank. Very very good.

Bottle - Vintage 2012 - Sour cherries, bit of funk and a lot of oak. Cloudy maroon and no head. Oak and cherry sourness, slightly acidic and sweet. The oak and cherries are in very good balance without the sweetness or sourness getting away. Very nice, but not for the price.

Pours mahogany brown. Aroma is cherries, raisins, muscovado sugar, bourbon, figs. Taste is cherries, bourbon, figs, raisins. Aftertaste is bourbon and sea salt.

Pours dark brown with a few off-white bubbles. Aroma has notes of malt, tart, alcohol, dried fruits, vinegar and hint of soy. Taste is light sweet and medium to heavy sour with a long dry and very sour finish. Body is medium, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is flat.

Bottle - Dark brown in colour. Vinous and fruity aroma. Tangy, tart and fruity taste with vinous fruit, leather, cherries and caramel. Very rich and one to sip slowly.

Bottle shared at Beer Temple. Pours dark brown with no head. Aroma of tart cherries, oak, barnyard, slightly vinous, raisins. Flavour is over moderate acidic and light moderate sweet. Full bodied with soft carbonation. An excellent American take on an old Belgian style, comparable to Struise Earthmonk.

Near zero carbonation but man, huge cherry sourness with lots of vanilla and woodiness from the Oak. My last bottle, sorry to say.
