Once upon a time it was the most award winning Pizza Port beer of all time. Now it has found a new home at The Lost Abbey.
A massive brown ale base that is made from four fermentable sugars including Malted Barley, Raisins, Candi Sugar and Sour Cherries, this beer is fully fermented before being placed in Bourbon barrels where the beer ages for one year with the Sour Cherries and the wild Brettanomyces yeast that we inoculate the barrels with.
One of the most complex and unique beers we make each year.

2009 bottle. Reddish orange body, clear. Off-white head, rapidly diminishing. Funky aroma of barnyard, cherry, wood, vanilla and alcohol. The flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter and moderately acidic. It finishes moderately sweet, moderately acidic and lightly bitter. Medium body, watery texture, moderate carbonation. Lots of barnyard from the brett and tart cherries in the taste. Subtle complexity. Leather, plum, vanilla. Nice mouth-puckering, acidic finish.

Sample at SBWF, sold as Lost Abbey Cuvee de Tomme. A fantastic beer. Complex and full of different flavors. A lot of berries, oak, vinegar, citrus. Very nice sourness, almost perfect mouth feel. I think that I am in love, can you love a beer? Of course you can!

Bottled. Deep rubyish amber colour with a small beige head. Aroma is sour cherries, cherry pips, some mildvanilla, alcohol as well as dark dry fruits. Also some mild plum and sour wooden notes. Flavour is sour wood, sour cherries, some mild vanilla, mild wood as well as some slight spices and alcohol. Actually quite beautifully balanced.

Bottled from de Molen, 2009. Hazy redbrown color, short head, some lacing. Aroma of marzipan cherry, bit cookie, raisin, red wine. Very complex, each sniff brings up new aroma’s. Quite tart, fruity, bit sweet, slight sparkling. Soft alcohol burn. Lovely stuff.

Bottle. Pours red-brown. No head. Cherries (and some strawberries), small earthiness, vinousity and some caramel/butter notes in the aroma. The sourness is moderate. This is a rather fruity and sweet brew. Small bitterness. Wood in the aftertaste. A quite smooth brew with some dryness in the finish.

375ml bottle, 2009 vintage. Pours a nearly opaque, purple amber with zero head. Fruity aroma, light funk, light cheese, light feet, vinegar. Flavor is sweet, malts, caramel, cherries, bourbon, wood, tart with that pedio character, vinegar. Finish is full bodied and acidic with very light carbonation. Lots of oak in the flavor and also in the mouthfeel.

Bottle @ Ølbutikken, Copenhagen. Pours unclear dark brown with a small creamy bubbly head. Nose is complex of chocolate, berries, red wine, vinegar and brett. Heavy dry , slick and tart flavor with some fresh cherries and brett. Warmth. The tartness lasts thorughout. Delicious and complex beer!
