(bottle, 33cl) Almost black coloured hue with a big and firm tanned foamy head. Fruity hoppy aroma with notes of grapefruit, ethereally spice, backed by mildly roasty malt, chocolate and liquorice. Moderately sweet and slightly bitter flavour, medium to full bodied with a smooth carbonation. Moderately roasted malty base with chocolate, liquorice, accompanied by grapefruity and delicately herbal hoppy notes; rounded roast-malty, chocolatey and hoppy finish with an almost muted alcoholic strength. Balanced brew, a pleasure. 04.VII.14

On tap. Black body, light brown head. Aroma and taste of chocolate, toast, mandarin, grassy, herbal and citrusy hops. Not a flavor bomb but pretty balanced brew.I like it.

Bottle from Cornelius. Dark brown body with a large beige head. Excellent lacing. Aroma of blackcurrant, lime and green hops. Flavour is light and zesty. Medium body with oily texture. Soft fizz. I agree with madmitch76 - this is more like a Black Saison than a Black IPA - it’s just lacking the malty, chocolate qualities of a Black IPA. The missus concurred - ’It looks like a dark beer but tastes like a light beer’.

Bottle. A dark brown beer topped by a small, dense, beige head. There’s quite a lot of orange and orange peel in the aroma, with roasted malts, caramel and some faint spiced, licorice nots. There’s a pleasant bitterness in the flavor, with orange peel, roasted malts, licorice and some caramel. Full to medium body, pleasant carbonation, and with a lasting roasted finish. Pretty pleasant this one, tasteful, and a bit strange. 140426
