This one is dedicated to everyone who has gotten up at the butt crack of dawn, headed towards the shores and found it 4-6 feet and offshore only to find 30 of your “buddies” have already claimed the peak. As you paddle out, a swell arrives from nowhere signaling your turn to go. The surf Gods are shinning on you today. You turn, stroke like mad for the wave. Standing up you are alone and blammo you Wipeout….blowing the only chance of a right hander all to yourself. You know who you are. We’ve all been there too. It’s inside each and every one of us. Welcome to the waters of Wipeout IPA, a massively hopped India Pale Ale with enough substance and body to overcome even the worst and most tragic of on the water spills. We brew Wipeout IPA for everyone- especially those hardy souls who brave the cold winter water and monster sets produced by an amazing northwest swell. Only a tidal wave of hops can overcome the surging tide of malt that is required to produce a beer of this shape. We invite you to drop in, hang on and kick out the backside. That is, unless you enjoy wiping out and all the glory that goes with it.

Bottle from De Bierliefhebber. Fruity piney hop aroma with malt, citrus, pine resin, grapefruit, orange, grass, a floral touch, and spruce. Light to moderate sweet flavour with a firm bitterness. Body is medium. Such a re-revelation to drink a truly classic bitter piney West Coast IPA in the hazecraze era.

Notes from 1/10/2009 Brought back from Boston in September. Lazy me left it the fridge at least. Chunks of yeast breaking off the bottom as I heavy-handily reach for the bottle opener. Awww shit, a gusher. : - Fifteen yard penalty. I mop up, & pour ever so gently into my Ommgang flute chalice. A muddy orange body, with an inch of egg-beater white whispy head. Soft, uniform, micro-beaded lace. Smell is big on tangerine zest, sticky residual sugars, pine, & a little aerosol. Pretty juicy on the initial taste. Lots of rind bitterness & zesty sweetness all the way through. It finishes a little drier, showing some dusty malt, but the orange/grapefruit rind bitterness lingers quite a bit. Carbonation is pretty low, but the beer isn't sticky. Alcohol punches a little harder then I thought it would. If this was in twelve ouncers, I think I'd eye a sixer every now & then.

Can from Deconinck. Pours clear orange with a thick, frothy, white head. Aroma of ripe mandarin, mango, pink grapefruit juice, peach, paprika, pepper, lime. Taste has sweet mango & mandarin, bitter grapefruit & orange peel, a bit piney-spicy on sweetish biscuity malts. Dry, bitter, resinous hoppy finish, lots of (ripe) fruit peels lingering. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Classic West Coast Ale, very good!

The can says best by next month but it doesn't taste that fresh at all. The aromas are musty, dry grain, a little pale malt and a hint of hops. Flavors are like Nose, some bitterness yes but little to no hop flavor.

Appearance is amber and quite clear, a 1-finger off-white head. Aroma- pithy fruit, hop resin, big grapefruit and orange, stewed pineapple, tropical fruit. Caramel ‘sweetness’ is detectable. Taste- bitter hops, toasty malt undertones, pithy fruit, grapefruit, orange juice, pineapple, some sticky treacle in the finish. Good stuff.
