Corked and caged 750. Pours an opaque, dark purple, maybe I want it to be violet bordering on black with a foamy slightly tan head. Close your eyes and evaluate the aroma and you’d swear this was a glass of wine with a heavy grape aroma that gives way to more subtle notes of lemony hops, dark candy and Belgian yeast. Flavor is quite unique, dark candy, dark sticky fruits, tart/funky yeast all on the front with creamy roasted malts on the end. The finish has a touch of heat from the bumped alcohol, but otherwise it’s fairly smooth for those with a refined beer palate. Very complex, could have used a touch more on the hops to round things out and tip it from very good to grand.

Bottle @ Chris_o. Pours a hazy dark brown color with a small off-white head. Has a spicy malty and slightly alcoholic aroma with some fruity hints. Sweet malty spicy dark fruit flavor. Long warming malty spicy finish with hints of raisins in the aftertaste.

Murky dark orange-brown body, thin cream head. Toasty, sweet aroma with dark fruits and brown sugar. Sweet, earthy body with burnt caramels, toast, raisin and other dark fruits. Strong anise notes persist and become the salient characteristic of this beer, to my chagrin. Other spices are also present. A bretty tartness is beginning to take hold, but is still rather subtle. Well-made but I can’t get into anise.

Noogfest Thanks to Shp555 for bringing this one to share. Pours muddy brown with a tan head. The aroma is sour, fruity and malt based. Sweet fruity start, dry finish. A bit thin bodied. A touch more complexity would make this a standout.

750 ml bottle; NOse of raisin pie, brown sugar, spices, and a tiny bit of funk; clear dark cherry brown with a big beige glass-lacing head; flavor is molasses, raisins, figs, nutmeg, and atiny bit of brett, but not much!

75 cL bottle, thanks to Bierkönig. Pours hazy and deep brown with a lacing off-white head. Aroma is dried fruity and malty. Flavour is a blend of malty sweetness and something beyond this (undefineable malty/herbal note). Slight herbal note with a minor acidity into the finish, a quite dry finish.

Bottled. A brown beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of vegetables and fruit. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of berries and wood, the berries giving it a slight acidic edge, leading to a dry finish.

(Bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of Bierkönig. Pours a cloudy, light brown with an orange hue and a small, light brown head. Intense aroma of burned caramel. Quite full-bodied, lots of sweet caramel and spicy ginger accents. Quite a nice one. 280907

Bottle. Very dark brown beer with slight reddish highlights and a low off-white head. Chocolate, roasty, yeasty, fig/raisin aroma. Dark fruit, chocolate, slight roast flavor with earthy yeast. Hides alcohol well. Medium body. Slight tartness.
