Draft. Hazy dark amber color, thick beige head, solid lacing. Aroma if bitter pine resin and flowers. Taste is bitter and styrupy pine sap and Christmas trees.

Fra flaske på Cardinaltreff mai-11: Ole sin desiderte favoritt, og det er lett å skjønne. Karftige saker, intens smak og ettersmak. Kan gjentas når som helst, men det bør ikke komme andre øl etterpå - vanskelig å toppe denne intensiteten og kompleksiteten. Må prøve den frittstående en gang.

Draught at Lost Abbey. Nose and flavor of caramel and some chocolate. Nicely spicy, cinnamon, pepper hops. Very nice and tasty with a light body. Good.

Draught at Port Brewing/Lost Abbey. Clear, deep amber/red liquid with medium off-white head. Aroma of grapefruit, citrus, caramel, biscuit, lemongrass and grass. Taste is dry and medium bitter with grassy hops. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Nice.

Bottled 3/6/2012, ~4 months old bottle. A reddish, dark brown beer with a medium and beige head. Aroma is strong and aromatic, caramelly malts, fruits, some tropical fruits, moist pine forest, hint of alcoholly strenght. Taste is strong and slightly fruitfull and toffee, lots of hops that balancing nicely caramelly malts, bitterness is piney and surprisingly, also slightly wooden. Long and slightly wooden aftertaste. Full bodied but not sticky and that fitts nicely for this strong beer. The strong and balanced beer, overally slightly wooden beer, enjoyable.

On tap @ Mikkeller bar. This is a really deep hazy amber blood orange colored one with a small sidesticking off-white head. Looks quite nice. Lovely fruity and hoppy aroma, wood and thick sticky caramel. Really thick and oily texture as well and it has a soft carbonation level. Hoppy and powerful flavors, lots of sweet malts, tons of red berries, finishes off light mouthdryinng, almost woody. A really tasty one indeed! 13.05.2012

22oz bomber poured into a snifter. Pours a dark plum color with minimal off-white head. Aroma of grassy and citrus hops with a good bit of caramel and dark fruits. Taste is medium bitter. Pine grass and caramel with a bit of dark fruits and a good dose of boozieness. Full bodied with a creamy and sticky texture. Lively carbonation and a long boozy finish. Overall, great. This one has been sitting on the shelf for about 4 years so I would love to try a fresh version to compare.

22 oz. bottle from Table and Vine. Nose and flavors are a mirror image. Sweet malts (bread and caramel) Citrus hops with some pine resin. Hop profile is nothing real special. Sweet caramel, toffee and dark fruit notes as well as some zesty, peppery spice. Some alcohol heat in the finish. This brew is nicely balanced and I really find nothing wrong with it but… nothing about it makes it noteworthy to me. To me it’s just another hoppy big beer. It gets lost in a sea of other big hoppy beers available.

A small glass, 9.2% abv., as Pizza Port, tap at Mikkeller bar. Dark brown body, dotted spots at the glassware. Smell of dark bitter fruity hops. Dried fruity flavour with semi-sweet notes of caramel malts, jam-like impression. Bittersweet ending. Full bodied. Tasty, indeed (Copenhagen, 13.05.2012).

On tap at Mikkeller Bar, May 2012. Amber with a small head. Fresh and fruity with hops, malt and toffee. Medium mouth feel and medium carbonation. Nicely drinkable.
