[5/10/12] Bottle sample from someone at Sour & Bitter. Hazy dark amber. Malty alcoholic aroma. Sweet flavor with malt, fruits and lots of burning alcohol. Full-bodied, a bit syrupy. Too boozy.

Sample @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration. Pours hazy dark golden with a small creamy goldenish white head that slowly dissipates while leaving a small trace on the glass. Smell is sweet and fruity with sweet bread, caramel, plums, grapes, yeasty esters, overripe mango, overripe pineapple, silage, marzipan and dried apricots. Taste is very sweet with sweetened bread, caramel, pale honey, golden syrup, alcohol, toffee, marzipan, candi sugar, apricots, hay, apples, pears and hints of wood and lemon zest. Mouthfeel is intense, sticky sweet, boozy and full bodied. Finish is sweet and fruity with apricots, grapes, orange peal, apples, pears and almond milk. Too intensely sweet and boozy for me.

Bottle. Weak caramelly aroma. Almost clear amber colour. Big stable tan head. The flavour is very caramelly. Sweet but clean. Does not taste THAT strong.

Draught @ CBC ’12. Rated on 11.05.2012
Aroma is perfume-like with toffee and berries – feels like an aged tripel. Flavour is oversweet with shitloads of sugar and caramel. Some very stinging alcohol on some sips. Feels like a liquor, hard to rate as a beer.

Draught @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration
Pours dark orange with a small head. Aroma of sugary malts, alcohol and fruits. Taste is extremely sweet and sugary with syrup, caramel malts, toffee. Finish is overly sweet with notes of root beer, syrup and sugar. Way too sweet, unbalanced, messy.

ChrisOs Easter Tasting. Big thanks to Harrisoni for sharing this rare beer. Cheers Ian! Hazy amber beer. Short lived pale tan head. Smooth silky palate. Sweet malts, caramel (naturally!). Lots of sweet esters, banana in particular. Alcohol aniseed spice towards the finish. Smooth delivery as always from Struise with the super high abv beers.

Bottle at Chriso’s Easter tasting 2012, thanks to harrisoni. It pours hazy deep red-amber, with a quickly dissipating off-white head. The nose is spice, honey, golden syrup, sweet tinned fruit (pear, melon etc) and brown sugar. The taste is varnish, wood, very fruity - raisin, currant, prune, date, melon and pear, as well as hot cross buns, toffee, golden syrup and lots of alcohol warmth. Full body, moderate carbonation and sticky mouth-feel. Pretty damn sweet and hot, but quite an experience to drink!
