Fish Paralyzer is a Belgian-style pale ale that is moderately hopped with Tradition and Saaz. The grain bill calls for a combination of specialty malt to produce its sweetness and copper color. The Belgian Ale yeast used provides a strong Belgian essence to Phenolic and spicy flavors and aromas.

Pour is a murky brown with a small white head. Aroma is earthy malts with some herbal tea. Flavor is some Belgian yeast and caramel malts but where’s the hops? For being a "Belgian pale ale" the Belgian things are minimal and the pale ale aspects are no where to be found. Got old real fast

Pours deep cloudy amber into a shaker. Off-white head quickly recedes to hug rim leaving spot lacing. Orange citrus and dark caramel aromas. dry dusty banana upfront turning quickly sticky before a lasting bitter orange pith and pumpernickel finish.

Bomber from Wine & Cheese in Clayton, MO. Pours really dark amber with a foamy tan head. Rich dark malt aroma with some yeast/spice hints. Med body;mild carb. Flavor is very spicey - hot bits. It’s smooth brown/roast malt, and the sugar is detectable, but it drinks pretty Belgian. Between a little hop and the spice, it seems nicely balanced. Good beer.

Bottle. Pours clear reddish brown with brown head. Nose of Belgian yeast, pale malts and spice. Taste of pale malts and something odd. Cinnamon?

Bonus bomber courtesy of ksurkin. It pours deep clear copper with weak micro white head. The aroma is wheat, coriander like spice, grains and apple fruitiness. It doesn’t seem to take long for the aroma to fade away to just spiciness and grainy malts. The taste pretends to be spicy hops but is really more wheat, coriander, yeasty spice and sweet apple fruitiness. The hops don’t seem to add up to the label statements.

Copper coloured body with a light orange glow, but fairly dark for the style. No head either - fades very very fast. Aroma of honey, toffee, light hops, alcohol, apricots and pitted fruits, a touch of coriander seed and some malt. Medium-bodied; Assertive malty and caramel flavours with some light spice, mild alcohol and a touch of nuts at the tail end. Aftertaste shows some light bitterness, good sweetness and a balanced malt and hop profile. Overall, not a horrible beer, but not showing too well, especially for the style - subpar at best. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Vienna, Virginia on 16-April-2010, sampled at home in Washington on 29-April-2010.

22 ounce bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a copper color with a medium head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of strange, almost tar-like malts with some herbal hops. Definitely not fruity as the commercial description. The taste is citrus, dark fruits, some earthy and nutty notes. Medium bodied. This is decent, but that aroma is a little weird.
