Bomber from Wine and Beer Westpark, Richmond, VA, opened 3/24/11. Pours a pitch black color with a medium creamy brown head. Good head retention and lacing. The aroma is quite smoky, with bacon featuring prominently. This overwhelms the aroma pretty much but there are some faint roasted and nutty notes in there. The taste is bitter roasted malts, smoked ham, considerable smoke, some hops in the finish. Medium-full bodied. They certainly didn’t pull their punches here. Thankfully I’m well beyond the days when I couldn’t stand a smoked beer. Certainly I’d like some more balance in this one, but its a good beer.

Bottle shared by Jcwattsrugger. Pours black. Tan head. Nose and taste of fire pit ash, peat, smoked oats and chocolate. Short almost nonexistent finish. Thin body. Taste falls a bit short of the nose.
