From tap as Oatmeal Stout. Pours dark brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is roasted and dark malty, slight dark breadish. Smooth malty, slight liqourice and dark breadish. Dry and rather hoppy. Roasted and dark malty into the finish. Lingering dark malty.

Draught at Brew Pub as "Oatmeal Stout". Pours black. Tan head. Nose/taste of pear skin, oatmeal, grainy chocolate and light sourness. Dryish finish. Off.

Had this at the Melvern brewpub. Nice big black pour but does not seem to be as viscous as many sweet stouts. Good roasty stout aroma. Very attractive. Nice initial stout flavors which is followed by a bitterness that reminds me of old wet partially burned campfire wood. Barely any carbonation can be detected, but it is there in its own creamy way. Best Mckenzie so far. Finish is lingering charcoal or something burned.

Draft at the brewpub, July 2006. A black beer with a brown shine under a brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with strong notes of chocolate, and a light roastd note. The flavor is sweet roasted and very malty with notes of chocolate, leading to a very dry roasted end. A bit thin for the style, but OK.
