Draft at brewpub. Black. Nose and taste of mint leaves, black licorice, tea, chocolate malt, basil and Indian spices. Minty licorice dominates the palate.

Sample at the Jackie O’s Bottle Sale/ Stout and Big Beer Fest on 02/05/2011. Pours brown-black with a thin light beige head that dissipates quickly. Spotty rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of chai tea and mint. Medium to full body with flavors of roasted malt, licorice, mint and coffee. The finish is coffee and herbs. Above average overall.

Sampled from the tap at the brewery during the 5th anniversary party. Poured black with opaque edges and a grayish-brown head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma had a strong mint note with some licorice with a dark grain, chocolate and coffee backing. Flavor started with dark grain and dark chocolate but was overwhelmed with a strong mint note. There was a bit of licorice and alcohol in the finish.
