Five years later, I look back at all we have gone through to get where we are today and I smile. It has been an amazing journey in one of the greatest industries in the world. We have met a ton of new friends, all in the name of great beer! This beer was brewed to celebrate all the great times we have had and plan on having in the future. Brewed with five different malts and five hop varieties this deep, dark and hoppy ale is meant to be enjoyed with friends. Straight from the captain’s cellar to yours, we hope you enjoy! – Scott Vaccaro

Tall 750 from Half Time. Pours really black with a creamy 3 finger tan head which does a little ring lacing. Aromas of piney hop and milk chocolate. Med body. Creamy carb. Flavor is dark roast malt, pine and I still think milk chocolate. Oooh. It is very tasty. I’d say the main thing is bitter hop, but the dark malt and chocolate are not to be denied. Finish is sort of all that at the same time. Bitter. Chocolate. But not bitter chocolate. Go figure. Brilliant ale.

Poured bottle into my CL glass which I didn’t break cuz I’m responsible. Nice dark pour with great looking tan head. Taste is very chocalty, with some pine bitters, some citrus and toffee. Finish dry and pleasant. Very nice Friday night brew

Sampled from the tap at the brewery. Poured near clear dark brown with brown head that dissipated slowly to the edges. Aroma was full of roasted dark grains with a relatively strong pine note. Flavor began with roasted dark grains but was taken over by a strong pine hop note.

Location: Draft at Blind Tiger, 2/19/11

Aroma: The nose has some coffee, roasted malts, big hop presence too
Appearance: This one pours a pitch black color with a small head
Flavor: The taste has a balance of big roasty maltiness, some sweetness, and some good bitterness
Palate: This beer has a pretty decent body to it, full enough, and drinks rather nicely
Overall Impression: This beer was quite enjoyable. A nice way to celebrate 5 yrs, glad I got to try it so quickly after the release. In general, I like what Captain Lawrence is doing, and I hope the next 5 years produce as many good beers as the first 5.
