We owe the first Viennese lager to Anton Dreher, the inventor of the lager. With the advent of light beers in the 19th century, it was displaced, but found its way to Mexico, where the original brewing style was greatly modified. Not so with us. We have been brewing our “Original” unchanged since 1999.

Appearance: Foggy amber with a moderate beige head of good retention. Aroma: grain, caramel, dried apples and pears, noble hop. Taste: near to dry. Otherwise as described above. Light plus hop bitterness in the ending. Mouth feel: Medium minus body, appropriate carbonation. Summary. Decent lager of proper balance.

0.3l tap. Clear dark amber with a creamy head. Dark caramel, milk coffee, marzipan, roasted malt, candy sugar, raisins, hints of citrus. Malty grainy sweetness, mild dry bitterness. Medium bodied, oily texture, soft carbonated, dry toasty malty grainy finish. Well made!

Draught @ Lempke am Schloss, Berlin. Pours clear dark golden with a small tan head. Aroma of malt, caramel, green vegetables. Flavor is sweet, malty, caramel, hay, grassy hops. Medium body, soft to average carbonation, light sweet finish. 260720

Süffiger, trocken röstiger Beginn, Noten von dunklem Honig. Leicht ansteigende Herbe, geringfügig bitter, spritzig. Konstante Malzigkeit, leicht erhöhte Karbonisierung, langer Nachgeschmack. Gut! 11/12/11/12/10/12

Tap at Lemke am Hof. Amber color with thick white head. Caramel, light roasty notes in aroma. Taste is very similar, amber coffee is more pronounced. Good.

On tap at Brauhaus Lemke am Alex, pours a deep dark amber with a small beige head. Aroma has plenty of bready malt upfront, with dry toasted caramel. Flavour is very malty, with lots of toasted caramel, bready malt, and a bit of nuttiness. Bready and malty. Very nicely done for the style.
