Draft 6 oz pour at the Brouwer’s Big Wood. Pours black with a tan soap bubble head. Vinegar aroma with some red wine feature. Oaky, cherry heavy, slight balsamic, and a nice tart finish. Unique and delicous. Black cherry lingers. Good stuff.

750 ml bottle. Pours a almost jet black color with a large beige head. A sour malty nose, vinous and oak. The flavor is interesting and easygoing: cherries, tartness, wine, dry white wine mostly, berries, the base saison comes in with almost funky dryness. I think this works well. The light roasted flavors are nice as well. Great brew.

750mL bottle, courtesy of daknole, pours with a dark mahogany colored body that supports a tan head. The aroma offers up big prune, blueberry, cherry and then cherry tart funkiness. There’s also a mild degree of spicy black strap molasses around the edges of the aroma. The taste is thick and nice with cherry funky tartness rolling into nectar like notes of prunes and blueberries. Toward the finish some malts and chocolate come to the surface and blend in nicely with the various fruity notes. This is nice stuff with a pleasing balance.

Bottle thanks to a trade! Pours near black with a light brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has notes of sour fruit with some backing barnyard and light dark grains. Flavor has notes of dark grains and mushroom throughout with a light tartness and funk.

On tap at Beer Mongers, pours a near-black with an amber tinge and a small tan head. Aroma of light licorice, rye, Belgian candied sugar and various spices - not too much of the barrels, least of which the bourbon. Flavour of light tart berries, dark rye, red wine barrels, and Belgian yeast. Nice subtle tartness and very drinkable, despite the high ABV and barrel aging - though I don't get any of the bourbon barrels. Solid stuff.

Bottle. Pours black with tan head. Nose/taste of vinous notes, oak, old wood, tart cherry, wild yeast, roasted black malt, cocoa, vanilla and some boot leather in the nose. Wonderfully complex and smooth. Medium body.
