Dark roasted grain and barley malt. Roast beef accents are also present. Garnet brown, almost black, thick tan head, nice lacing. Primarily meaty flavor with kibble overtones. Subtle chocolate notes are detected. Rustic, dirty finish of bark and charred oak. Alcohol not noticeable. Full bodied, big brown ale, not hoppy, malt bomb. It’s like an imperial southern english brown ale, but I doubt we’ll ever see that as a sanctioned style. Great beer for people who enjoy this type of thing. Would be a fantastic compliment to beef stew, which I’m suddenly craving despite my plans to eat dinner at my city’s annual seafood festival. Best of the Reunion series so far.

Was apprehensive about this one, but seeing the rather high ratings from some folks I tend to respect, I decided to give it a shot - very dark brown, nearly black - thick, soapy tan lace - nose of vanilla, tobacco (lots of it, like that first whiff when you walk into a humidor), fig, raisin, cocoa, hazelnut - creamy mouthfeel, but not as thick as I was hoping - medium sweet, with a lot of rich nuttiness and caramel - tobacco leaves - some fig and plum - a hint of woody, earthy bitterness on the tail end - chili heat comes in the finish, but brings none of the vegetal notes that so many pepper beers have - just a mellow spiciness that adds a lovely warming character to the lingering rich maltiness - this is a damn fine brew.

Bomber from Beverages4Less in Santee, CA. Fred’s the man! Trust me on that. Pours very dark brown with a big foamy/creamy light tan head. Aroma is chocolate chili? With light stone fruit? Full body. Creamy carb. Flavor is chocolate/vanilla with some fruit, followed by a slow chili burn. Not a lot of chili heat. Yet, anyway. This is an extremely flavorful, but not excessively extreme, beer. Really good beer.

Bottle @ home. Deep brown appearance with a bubbly, brown head. Toasty chocolate malty, nutty creamy, mild earthy aroma. Creamy, milk chocolate, light toffee, nutty, vanilla, mildly bitter flavor with the chili peppers showing up on the finish. Soft, velvety mouth feel. Nice brew!

Pours clear mahogany with tan head. The aroma offers up some roasted malts, very dark roasted malts, a cola sensation and a mild whiff of vanilla. Smells nice. The taste has rich dark roasted malts, molasses, a mild level of vanilla and a growing and pleasing chocolatiness to midway and into the finish. I like this. It’s smooth, on the rich side and straight up yummy.

Pours dark mahogany into a Sam glass. Off-white head quickly recedes to nothing. Milk chocolate aromas. Upfront chocolate and vanilla turning to a lasting chocolate finish.

Pour is a dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is sweet and heavy malts with a bit of chocolate. Flavor is at first a nice chocolate with a little vanilla aftertaste. I don’t get and chili pepper but I’m Ok with that. Finish has some creamy chocolate covered vanilla ice cream. Decent beer for a low price and a good cause.

22oz bottle from Pick’s poured into a Snifter. Pours black with 2 fingers of frothy dark tan head. Aroma of chocolate with a slight pepper spice. Taste is lightly bitter and lightly sweet...with a nice pepper spice. Tastes like chocolate, vanilla and a nice spicy pepper aftertaste. The pepper really does sneak up on you. Very nicely done. Medium bodied with a thick and creamy texture. Lively carbonation and a long chocolate and pepper finish. Overall, awesome! Something I will absolutely drink again. I’ll be back tomorrow to buy another couple bottles to squirrel away.
