Sampled from a 750 ml brown bottle this beer poured a dark blood red-plum with a large foamy dark pink head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was dryish and musty merlot and tart cherry. The flavor was dryish, musty and dusty merlot with hints of tart cherry, vinegar and wood. Medium length musty merlot finish. Medium body.Somewhat disappointing.

Bottle. Pours grape with pink purple head. Nose and taste of grape juice, wheat malt and hints of banana. Some metallic notes. Light bodied. Not very good.

Bomber from the Vacaville BevMo. Pours dark and very ruddy. Beautiful. Like the grape color hung in there. No head to mention. Aroma is vinous. Or like that. It is unusual, but quite attractive. Med body. Not heavily carbonated. Initial hit was- oh no, this isn’t going to be Welches? But a split second later it clearly was not, and the cabernet aspect was quite definite. If you’re a cab fan, you’ll probably get a kick out of this. It’s pretty. Very good, considering it’s a wheat beer. Very good anyway. My respect for Blue Moon just went up by leaps and heaps.
