The dark caramel, large dense headed brew, with its 8.8% alcoholic content, is unique due to its sweet notes of chocolate and coffee interspersed into a foundation of dark roasted barley. Symbolic black to denote leadership, power, focus and strength, is dominant in the labeling as the lion journeys in the twilight unafraid, unbowed and unchallenged.

Have always seen this on the shelf over here in various places, but the good reports encouraged me to actually buy it. Black colour, small golden head. Aroma is thick with dark fruit, roasty malt, a touch of something savoury, maybe even a little beefy, oats too. Quite nice. Taste is oats, roast again, no hint of the 8.8%. Some chocolate and a touch of bitterness and smoke. Something savoury again. Pretty nice though. Nice and easy drinking.

Bottle, 0.33l. Black pour, one finger beige head, short lasting. No lacing on the glass. Nice on the nose, herbal, dark fruits, caramel in the background. Thin to medium body, soft carbonation. Average mouthfeel and texture, mild prickly, quite smooth. Taste is a bit on the sweet side with mild bitter liquory notes. Aroma of caramel and toffee. Syrup. Dark fruits, herbs. Liquor, moderately boozy. A bit sticky. Medium lasting finish, dry and liquory, mild alcohol burn on the tongue. Pleasant surprise.

Aroma has cake dough and pineapple. Sweet, full bodied beer with just a hint of sourness. Strong roasted malt and tropical fruit flavors (pineapple and mango). A tasty tropical treat!

Bottle to glass at Hotal Colombo in HK. Black syrupy pour with foamy light tan head. Some sediment. Aroma is sweet, coffee, milk chocolate, alcohol. Taste is the same. Boozy. Slick palate. Not bad but not great.

[33cl bottle from Total Wines, Naples, Fl.] A glossy black pour with a thin beige cap; sweet sugary aroma; smooth in the mouth with a chocolatey malt taste with soem sour notes; then a rather thin finish. Disappointing, I was looking forward to trying this.

I'm sure this isn't the first time I've had it. Taiwan 7-11 corner years ago, perhaps? Anyway, a bit boozy, but yeah.

Boca 0,62L - kupljena u lokalnoj trgovini u Požegi - odličan stout, predobar mirisom, možda da je malo manje alkohola u okusu...

10 August 2018. Bottle from Bierothek, Bamberg. Living room tasting in Floating House, Bosanska Krupa. Cheers to Anke!
Pours cloudy black with a lasting, small, foamy, beige head; little lacing. Inviting aroma of molasses, toast, raisin, mocha, roasted peanut, milk chocolate, kahlua, faint varnish. It tastes medium malty sweet, chocolatey, some cream & sourish raisin accent, and light roasted bitter, notes of toast & mocha. Dryish, toasty finish, faint herbal hops, lingering caramel & warming liqueur alcohol. Medium body, slick/oily texture, fizzy carbonation. Could have been more assertively bitter, but it's a pleasant one either way.
