Bottled@PBF VIII. More or less pitch black (very deep ruby colour) with a small beigeish brown head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, mild roasted and tobaccoish notes to it. Flavour is chocolate, quite roasted along with some caramel, alcohol and a bit of liquorice. Solid and highly drinkable.

65 cl bottle @ PBF
Aroma has rather neat cocoa notes and dark chocolate. Flavour has salty licorice, some coffee notes and some dark chocolate. Also some woody notes. Nice, but does not reach the top.

650ml bottle @Β PBF 2013 from wchesser. Thanks!

Pours pitch black with a small head. Aroma is roasty, sweet, syrupy with notes of chocolate, grainy malts, molasses, dark chocolate and coffee. Taste is grainy, sweetish and roasty with notes of molasses, syrup, chocolate and coffee. Finish is sweet, syrupy and roasty with notes of molasses and dark chocolate. Quite balanced, but generic imperial stout.

Tap at River North - seems like they learned their lesson from their last imperial stout - whereas strong and messy phenols ruined that one, the phenols here are very light and enjoyable - nice hefty chocolate and coffee nose, with plum and some moderate esters, moderate wine like tannins - nice firm carbonation, thick body - sweet, but with balancing roast and light.acid - mild phenols, quite a bit of red wine-ish character in the finish - excellent beer.
