On tap at Augustiner am Gendarmenmarkt, Berlin. Pours clear amber with a foamy, tan head. The aroma contains roasted malt, yeast, caramel, dark fruits and sugar. It tastes medium sweet and light sour. Soft carbonation, thin body and watery texture.

Brown with almost no head. Aroma is slight syrup, nuts, slight caramel. Nothing much. Taste is slightly phenolic syrupy sweetness, a little bitterness, perfume/flower stuff. Quite a lot of carbonation, lots of resin/syrup bittersweetness in the finish. A little too phenolic syrupy for drinkability. Medium enjoyment here.

Bottle, 0.5l. Clear dark ruby pour with one finger soapy, slightly off-white head. Poor retention and no lacing. Smell is intense caramel and toffee with a touch of hops. Nice. Medium body, softly carbonated. Thick and creamy texture, really smooth. Nicely balanced bittersweet taste. Aroma is pleasant and slightly subdued. Malts, yeast, grains. Caramel, toffee, dark fruits and berries. Touch of hops. Slight metallic bitternes. Regular lasting finish, a bit dry. Overall, nicely balanced and very drinkable dunkel.

Bottle. Red/brown. Beautiful head. Aroma is mild, equally malty and hoppy. Taste is malty, spicy and caramel. Just a hint of sweetness and acidity. German hops drop in to say hello. Lovely carbonation. Very balanced and very süffig. Great Dunkel!

0,5l from tap at Augustiner Keller Munich. Amber colour, medium big tan head. smells earthy, tobacco, licorice, bit acidic. decent smell. medium body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes bready, light fruity, plums, but peppery, bit grainy. finishes lightly dry with notes of plums and sweet earthy notes. overall decent a bit thin though.

Copeer-brownish, small off-white head. Light colored for a Dunkel. Toffee, dry fruits, caramel. Roasty, some bitterness, some sweetness. Medium body, thick texture, heavy. A serious Dunkel, but not for your everyday drink.
