Tired of talking my friends into pit stops at beer bars before heading “out” — in fear of having to drink bland lager all night — I set out to craft an ale that would act as companion throughout the evening. Levon is assertively hopped and fermented dry using champagne yeast. The yeast and the hops in combination with a simple malt bill provides the beer with a quality of being rich in taste yet refreshing.

Bottle from Max, thanks! Slight haze, moderate but lasting head. Malty grain nose, though mild and not wort-like. Very pleasant fine-bubbled carbonation. Some funky sour-reminiscent, almost rubbery notes in there. Very present bitterness, quite dry, some citrus/grapefruity notes but not much hop aroma (indeed it's a bit expired so that's not unexpected). It's aged well for a pale ale. Honestly it's too lasting/not so pleasant bitter character & skewed balance for my taste.

Bottle, 0.33l. Cloudy copper pour, huge frothy white head. Excellent retention, long lasting. Thick lacing on the glass as it goes down. Herbal yeasty nose, coriander notes, touch of citrus fruits, grapefruit and lime. Mild peppery. Light body, medium carbonation. Fizzy mouthfeel, prickly on the tongue. Average texture, a bit lightweight. Smooth nonetheless. Mild bitter taste paired with subtle sweet/sour combo, nicely balanced. Aroma of Belgian yeast, coriander, citruses. Mild caramel. Citric acid, mild acidic. Zesty. Floral. Short to medium lasting finish, dry, mild spicy and a bit sour. Decent brew.
