Mild ale is an old English and a bit forgotten beer style. It is brewed with English Marris Otter malt and traditional English hop varieties such as Fuggles and East Kent Goldings. It is a beer with a low alcohol content and despite tha a full, malty flavor.

At a tasting, thanks, small creamy head, murky brown color, aroma of grains, hay and minerals with a fruity hint, flavor of caramel, bread and grains, light to medium bitterness. Very English, fair.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; dark chestnut brown pour with a creamy beige head, aroma has malt loaf plus some dark fruits, taste has light toast, some dark fruits a hint of caramac, some bread.

Bottle sample at a tasting at kerenmk’s place. Thanks rayaron. Amber. Aroma of chalky malt, minerals, caramel, toast, light fruitiness, and a bit of hops. Flavor has sweetish dusty malt, toast, a caramel note, minerals, a fruity hint, and a bitter finish. Quite light-bodied.

Bottle 330ml (Saveur)
Dark brown color, small off-white head. Light chocolate and yeast in the nose. Light-bodied. Crisp. Light caramalt sweetness, light earthy hops and short finish. Not so suprisingly easy and light.

bottle at home. Hazy light brown with creamy off-white head. Light toasted malts, caramel, chestnuts, gingerbread, cookies. Then some nice fruity hops with a touch of lemon. Light sweet and light bitter. Almost medium bodied with creamy carbonation. I can’t bvelieve this is just 3.5% ABV. Very nice beer.

Bottle @ weekly tasting shared with Dutchdrebus. Red-brownish color, lightly brownish colored head. Aroma is malts, some roast, slightly smoke. Taste malts, dark malts, lightly roast, a distant hint of coffee, a distant hint of sweetness with a slight bitter finish. Quite complex, there are a lot more flavors in there to discover for those who have the patience to sort it out completely. Good body for a beer with this low ABV. Well brewed I’d say!

Bottle. Brown color. Aroma of malt, yeast and hazelnut. Flavor of brown malt, hazelnut, raisin, cinnamon and some mild hopbitters in the finish. Not bad, just very mild.

Nice creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is neutral, plastics, weeds, hay, lawn, toast. Taste is slightly dry, weeds, hay, bark, harsh grass, toast, roasted grain. Medium bitterness, dry harsh mouthfeel. Meh!
