Traditional throughout Latin America, the guayabera shirt combines style, functionality, form and tradition in its four-pocketed design. We at Cigar City Brewing feel the same reverence and appreciation for the guayabera that we do for the Citra hop varietal, an ingredient that imparts notes of tangerine, lime and berries to this traditional American Pale Ale. The exclusive use of Citra hops in this beer creates a flavor that’s at once unique and recognizable, while its dry, crisp character and moderate alcohol make it as refreshing and functional as a crisp linen guayabera.

12 oz. can. Pours an opaque gold color with a khaki head and decent retention. Spots of lacing. Fruity hops aroma. The taste is more bitter and less fruity than the nose. Pretty standard APA fare. No wonder the hop head like it. Tick.

Can pour into nonic pint glass from Andover Classic Wines. Appearance is cloudy, orange-light brown with decent sparkle, finger-width off-white head with fair retention and light, soapy lacing. Aroma is strong citrus, berries, pine over bready malt backbone. Taste is strong orange citrus, lighter grapefruit, late biscuit and some resiny bitter. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with smooth texture, lively carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, strong hop flavors--very IPA like--without a huge offsetting malt presence, other than maybe a heavier texture. Not complaining though--quite good.

On tap at Pour Taproom, pours a hazy golden orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out citrus hops and tropical fruity notes. Flavour is along the same lines, with citrus hops and gentle tropical fruits. Nicely balanced, with a pleasant incorporation of the fruit.
