A premium lager of purity and freshness brewed using Galaxy and Cascade hops and the finest English malted barley. Then for a cleaner, fruitier and more aromatic finish, re-fermented with Champagne yeast and a ‘dosage’ of rare Nelson Sauvin hops. This is a lager for people who love beer.

Bottle at Artisan Tap, Bedford. Mid-gold with a big white head. Lots of carbonation. Floral and light vinous scent, with grass and candy sugar. Wow, really nice and unexpected. Taste is less impressive, a simple sweetness with only a hint of tempering bitterness. For a lager, this is excellent although it would struggle to hold its own among ’proper’ beer.

33cl bottle from Waitrose, Bracknell. A amber pour with a billowing white head; floral aroma; soft grainy body with a gentle floral taste with a touch of citrus and some caramel; the hops add a limey zing and some freshness, making this a very well balanced fragrant lager.

Bottle @ The Commercial Hotel, Accrington. Golden-orange with a thin head. Has a good lager-malt nose, although slightly less stated in taste, but still a very palatable beer, and quite crisp.

bottle from Waitrose Sidford. Golden yellow with a small white head. Dusty hops dominate, with a shy touch of cardboard. No glory.

My son had a pint of this in The Pheasant, Wellington Shropshire: I grabbed a large portion of it (just to rate it on here). Golden, bright and clear look with the usual lager/pilsner white but thinning head. Mild hop nose with a crisp hoppy bite to the taste. Not getting over excited, but a decent enough UK brewed lager and a lot better than the mass produced Carling’s of this world.
