(Bottle 1PINT 6FL.OZ.) Cocoa, bitter chocolate, malty aroma. Opaque black color. All time creamy brown head. Light sweet, medium bitter, light chocolate taste. Medium-full body. Oily texture. Very dry, light alcohol warm finish.

Bottle at JF tasting, thanks to an IP trade with Kurt - 29/12/12. Very dark mahoogny brown veering towards black with a thin tan head that clears to the edge. Nose is dark malt, toffee, molasses, touch of chocolate, a little hop presence, treacle. Tast follows the nose, chocolate carries a little more presence, dark toffee, a little booze, molasses, tar. Full bodied beer with soft carbonaton and a little booze in the finish. Decent stuff, well balanced, complex, the booze is well integrated.

Bottle @ home shared with Dutchdrebus. Very dark almost pitch black color, small to medium sized brown head that leaves a fair lacing but diminishes fairly quickly. Smell malts, roastyness, lightly alcohol, lightly earthy, hops. Taste roastyness, malts, hops, lightly alcohol, lightly liquor, lightly wood, lovely bitterness. Not as good as the older viscosity but certainly a very good beer indeed! Full body, medium to full carbonation. Great!

Bottle thx to Benzai, thx for sharing! Pitch black oil with a brown head that doesn’t last long. Smells dark chocolate, roasty, coffee. This will be a treat. Tastes chocolate, roasty, coffee, sweet. Great taste. This beer could use a little bit less carbo and a bit more body, but other than that it’s great. I’m going to enjoy this one.

Bomber bought some place I can’t remember. Pours vary dark brown, almost black, with a frothy goldenish pale brown head that slowly dissipates while leaving some thick sticky lacing on the glass. Smell is sweet, malty and tiny spicy with roasted malts, caramel, sweetened coffee, charred wood, vanilla fudge, black pepper, alcohol, sweet liquorice candy, roasted oatmeal flakes, cookie dough, dark chocolate, bourbon, raisins and hints of port wine. Taste is sweet, bitter, tiny sour and malty with roasted malts, caramel, vanilla fudge, dark roast coffee, bitter chocolate, whiskey, burnt raisins, resinous wood, freshly cut grass, toasted cereal, black pepper, liquorice hard candy, moist soil, molasses, toffee and warming alcohol. Mouthfeel is soft, silky, slightly creamy, slightly boozy and near full bodied. Finish is sweet and bitter with roasted malts, dark roast coffee, liquorice hard candy, resinous wood, pine, whiskey, burnt caramel, toffee and alcohol. Quite tasty…

Bottle shared with (and courtasy of) Veitafan. Has a hazy black colour with a frothy greyish beige head. Aroma of nice roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, lactose, leather and some spices. The flavour is also very nice with lots of roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate and anis. Has a slick and oily mouthfeel, and a light bitterness. A wonderful and well-balanced beer.

Aroma: The nose is roasted malts, a little bourbon, wood/oak, some vanilla, and a little chocolate
Appearance: Pours a thick, black color with a thumb-worth of foamy brown head
Flavor: The taste is roasty and a little sweet, with bozzy notes, oak/wood, and a bit of a hop backing
Palate: The body leans full, with some thickness to it, an average carbonation, and some decently hidden alcohol
Overall Impression: This is a very good beer that I have definitely had before, but has escaped rating until. I like this one quite a bit, they did a really good job here.
