22 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 8/7/2012. Pours pitch black color with a nice 1-2 finger dense tan head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of dark chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, light char, toast, dark bread, toffee, light raisin, and roasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, coffee, char, toast, dark bread, light raisin, toffee, and roasted earthiness. Moderate coffee bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, coffee, char, toast, dark bread, light raisin, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt flavors; with a good bitterness/sweetness balance and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a creamy, chalky, and moderately crisp mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is a highly excellent imperial stout. All around great balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

Bottle. Pours black with a big mocha head that dwindles to finger thickness. Aroma is burned malts, tobacco and leather, as well as notes of wine barrels. Full, creamy and smooth body, with average to fizzy carbonation. Flavour is actually quite bitter of grapefruity hops, as well as nice dark notes of coffee, chocolate, tobacco and leather before the bitterness once again dominates the nice long finish.

Bottle shared with Edu. Black colour with a light biege head, with medium duration and good lacing. Aroma is toasted malts with notes of black coffee. Flavor has smoked wood notes, licorice, black coffee, alcoholic, and black chocolate. The final is alcoholic with a good duration very good compensated with a decent bitterness.

dark brown colour, huge long lasting brown head; aroma of roasted coffee, dried dark berries, some smoke and dark chocolate; taste of heavy roasted malts...and it is, in fact too dominant to feel anything else (maybe some smoked taste can be felt); I accept its greatness, but a bit ’too much’ for me

Smell of coffee and cocoa. Black with high brown head. Aroma of ash, coffee, cocoa, tar. Bitter. Viscous, living up to the name. Barbed. Awesome attitude. Comparison between Harviestoun Old Engine Oil and this: OEO is oily and droopy, this one is ashy and barbed.

Draft at Churchkey for CBC. Poured a near pitch black color with a small, but thick mocha head. Aroma was roasted malts - notes of chocolate and some coffee. Flavor was roasted chocolates, with plenty of malts, bitter notes. Some slight alcohol legs on this one - a little burn but a lot more mellow than I expected it to be.
