Bottle shared on the night before the night tasting thanks to Zer0. Pours near black with a light beige head. Aroma of malt, raisins, caramel, ripe dark fruits. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter. Full bodied with soft carbonation.

Big brown creamy longlasting head. Aroma is rich and sweet, dark malts, licorice, dark sugar, caramel, dark berries, coffee, chocolate. Taste is very balanced, dark malts, raw licorice, coffee, burnt caramel, hay, oak. Longlasting nice bitterness, slightly dry mouthfeel. Nice one!

Bottle share at kernel thanks to Leighton for this gem. Aroma is salty, sweet liquorice and choc. Opaque black caramel pour with a light tan head. Flavour is balanced malty sweet chocolate, and light roast. Really good balanced big beer.

Botella de 65 cl en el lupulo. Un par de veces durante el verano de 2013. Alucinante cerveza. Cuerpo medio con increíble sabor amargo, tostados y quemados muy bien combinados. Muy recomendable repetir.

Bottle shared at The Kernel - this one I’d had in the ’ol cellar for nigh on three years. Pours clear, dark brown with a frothy, beige head. The nose has rich bread, ripe dark fruits and soft vanilla. Medium to big sweet flavor with fruit cake, chocolate, dark fruits, bread. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish with semi-dark malts, light chocolate, cake, dark berries, light dirt, vanilla, more heavy bread. Lovely, rich and well balanced. Delicious.

Bomber, bottled 10/18/11; about two years old. Found this on the discount shelf at my local beer shop. Score! Aroma consists of coffee, chocolate, toast, raisins, licorice. The wood is there, but faint. Pours impenetrable motor oil black with a medium tan head with decent retention. Taste starts out sweet and roasty, finishing bitter. The oak comes through more in flavor than it did in the aroma. Carbonation is average--I was expecting something more like Older Viscosity, which I remember being near flat. The body is fairly thick, but it’s not the sludge texture Older had; it’s actually just kind of an average body for a beer of this caliber. It seems like an imperial stout to me, although the label is purposely vague on style definition. Good and tasty, but not as impressive as its bigger brother!

Taste is light to medium sweet and medium bitter with notes of dark chocolate, coffee, licorice and dark fruit. Some sweet alcohol. Medium to full bodied with low to medium carbonation. Nice.

22 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 8/7/2012. Pours pitch black color with a nice 1-2 finger dense tan head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of dark chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, light char, toast, dark bread, toffee, light raisin, and roasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, coffee, char, toast, dark bread, light raisin, toffee, and roasted earthiness. Moderate coffee bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, coffee, char, toast, dark bread, light raisin, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt flavors; with a good bitterness/sweetness balance and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a creamy, chalky, and moderately crisp mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is a highly excellent imperial stout. All around great balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.
