This is definitely not your Dad’s 30 weight!
An enormously rich and satisfying beer, Old Viscosity begins with a malty nose with caramel and chocolate overtones. An incredibly rich beer with substantial malty notes, Old Viscosity finishes with a dry, sweet Dark Chocolate bitterness.

Espresso, smoke and big roasted malt notes dominate the nose. The mouth is very big with candy sugar, espresso, cherries and a massive amount of hop bitterness. Warming alcohol finish with long lingering roasted malt notes.

Thanks Iznogud, Vanja & others for sharing! Impressive black body with a brown-tan head. Sweet, full aroma, coffee, malts, slightly candyish, slightly sticky, with a fresh note, perhaps vaguely herbal permeating it, though I couldn’t pinpoint what it actually was - the aroma actually avoided the overbearing feeling some beers of this style/strength have because of it. Taste... lovely fresh coffee vs. some herbal/fruity, slightly flowery perhaps note that seems like a continuations of that thing in the aroma, slightly milky/sweet near the end. Fantastic, just fantastic.

650 ml bottle shared by Sebilinz at RB Tasting Vienna March Edition. Thanks!
Black body, with a big, creamy, brown head.
Aroma with lots of dried fruits, coffee, alcohol.
Tastes of roasty coffee, dried fruits, lots of sweet malts, some smoke, fruity hops.
Medium, oily mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
Finishes roasty, a bit smokey, with coffee, dried fruits, subtle hops.
Very nice. The nose isn’t that special in my opinion, but the taste is enjoyably full malty, without forgetting about the hops. Overall not the best American Strong I’ve had, but one I would gladly drink again.

Bottled 650ml. -from Svijet Piva Zagreb. Pitch black, medium sized brown head, chocolate in the nose. Heavy roasted malt, chocolate, licorice, dried fruits and alcohol with rather sweet finish. Dried fruits and roastiness in the aftertaste with back up alcohol. Couldn’t find myself in this one.

22 oz bottle poured into a snifter. Bottled 10/23/2013. Black with 2.5 fingers of frothy tan head. Aromas of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, caramel, subtle dark fruit, a bit of amaretto. Tastes of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, some floral hops, caramel, some oats. Full body with a dry finish. Nice thick oily mouthfeel. Medium-low carbonation. Very nice even with a bit over a year on it, don’t really get much barrel character if any so maybe that’s faded.

At a tasting, many thanks DSG, zvikar and Ariel, big bubbly light brown head, quite dense with lots of carbonation, almost completley opque black colour, aroma of milk chocolate and dark malt, with cocoa and a hint of roastiness, roasty flavour with some coffee, quite sour, needs a little more sweetness to balance, rquite easy to drink and just a little simple. Good and interesting but not too exciting..

Bottle shared at a tasting at Beer Market Jaffa. Black, almost completely opaque, with a big tan head. Aroma of roast, wood, vanilla and a bit of cocoa. Bittersweetish flavor, roasty, with wood, coffee, vanilla, a bit of licorice notes and a light hoppy bitterness with a tart touch. Pretty full-bodied, well-carbonated. Very nice.
