Michigan-grown Cascade hops bring a brightness to this barrel-aged American pale ale. Malt sweetness and toasted oak combine for a smooth, refreshing finish. This is the ideal session ale. It’s perfect for those conversations that last longer than a pint.

Smells like a typical modern IPA. decent head. taste approaches IPA but never quite gets there. Nice lacing. Clear pale yellow with just a slight haze. Yes, not enough bitterness to cause a pucker but certtinaly enought o let you know this is ana lae fer sure. Finish is not as annoying as expected.

From a 12 oz bottle shared at home. Pours a clear with a thick off white head. Fruity nose. Flavors of caramel and citrus with a hint of vanilla. Refreshingly clean finish.

12 ounce bottle into signature pint glass, bottled on 9/3/2014. Pours lightly hazy golden orange color with a 1-2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of lemon zest, grapefruit, orange peel, light caramel, biscuit, oak, light vanilla, floral, grass, light pine, and floral/oak earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/floral hops, bready malt, and toasted oak notes; with good strength. Taste of lemon zest, grapefruit, orange peel, light caramel, biscuit, oak, light vanilla, floral, grass, light pine, and floral/oak earthiness. Fair amount of pine/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon zest, grapefruit, orange peel, light caramel, biscuit, oak, floral, grass, light pine, and floral/oak earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness and complexity of citrus/floral hops, bready malt, and toasted oak flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, crisp, and lightly creamy/sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 4.4%. Overall this is a very nice oak aged pale ale! All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/floral hops, bready malt, and toasted oak flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle. Translucent slightly hazy straw body, medium off-white head. Nose and body of muted hops and round, somewhat tannic oak notes. I’ve always been skeptical of the benefits of barrel-aging pale ales and this is no exception, as the blend just comes out blah.

Draft at Horrocks. Nice variation on the low ABV theme. Crisp, flavorful start to finish. Decent session beer.

Draft. Orange malt and light orange peel aroma. Clear golden yellow with minimal head. Sweet lactic barley malt flavor. Dry orange peel finish. A good beer but don’t really detect much influence from the barrel aging.
