Michigan-grown Cascade hops bring a brightness to this barrel-aged American pale ale. Malt sweetness and toasted oak combine for a smooth, refreshing finish. This is the ideal session ale. It’s perfect for those conversations that last longer than a pint.

Bottle. Gold in coloe and a medium head. Aroma and taste was just a plain pale ale with nothing to "write home" about.

Clear dark copper-gold color with a medium thin white head that dissipates quickly to an outer ring. Malty and woody aroma with some hops in the background. Light-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, earthy hops and oak. The finish is oaky with a fruity hop aftertaste. Decent overall.

Bottle from Cap Tap. Pours gold with a white head. Aroma suggested maple at first inhale. Not the case, but suggestive. Med minus body. Flavor is very slightly roasty malt, and a pretty large impact of oak. This is dry and approaching astringent. Wood is the main flavor for me. With a little citrus. Quite different, but it’s very enjoyable. The wood seems to be providing significant bitterness. Liking it.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a caramel color with a large foamy orange-white head that left excellent lacing. The aroma was somewhat faint with a vague tangy hop note. The flavor was tart and a bit dry with citrus and vague fruity hops. Medium length finish. Light body. Meh.

12 oz. bottle into a Tulip. Best by 2/24/2016 A: Pours an inch of head thanks to a furious swirl of carbonation. Settles quickly but not completely atop a clear brassy body. Patchy lace left. S: Muted malt and some wood. little to no hop nose. T: Hops are readily detected at first sip. A good dose of maltiness also there in balance. Trying to pick out woody notes but this is very discreet. Good tasting though somewhat reminiscent of a past-prime strong IPA. Tastes boozier than it is. M: Light to medium body with soft carbonation providing a pretty nice mouthfeel. O: Interesting and thankfully not overdone with the wood. Nice beer overall though not one I feel warrants seeking.

Light amber, thin head. Woody nose both from hop and barrel. Light body, hint of toasty, biscuity malts. Finishes light and quick. Decent brew.

12 oz. bottle purchased at Julio’s Liquors. Bottle date of 08/ 26/15. Cloudy copper color with light fluffy white head. Aroma has noticeable barrel / wood note with light caramel malt, weak aged hops.

Flavor is plenty of wood but not really barrel, more wood shavings. Very weak earthy hop profile through the center. Starting to think this was aged on oak spirals or oak chips because the wood is extremely soft. Body and texture leans on the very thin side. Ends sweet.

Pour is a clear copper with a large white head. Aroma is a very minor oak and vanilla. Flavor is a better display of the barrel with a bit of oak coming through. Finish is a bit watery but again the oak is there just not in a huge way. A bit thin all around but it does have a decent oak to it, you just have to look for it.

This was poured into a nonic pint glass.
The appearance was a hazy burnt orange color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute leaving some light clingy messy lacing.
The smell starts off with crisp sweet toffee malts rounding out into light caramel notes. A subtle sweet and roasty nuttiness rolls over and blends nicely. Fruity esters blend sweetly.
The taste was mainly sweet through the previously mentioned flavors. Subtle crisp sweet toffee blends into the aftertaste and finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Carbonation runs fair for the APA style, still allowing a semi-dry woodiness clinging to my tongue.
Overall, I say this was a pretty good APA, low bitterness so don’t expect normal hop levels like other APA’s. Pretty sure New Holland pulled off what they wanted to with this one.
