Michigan-grown Cascade hops bring a brightness to this barrel-aged American pale ale. Malt sweetness and toasted oak combine for a smooth, refreshing finish. This is the ideal session ale. It’s perfect for those conversations that last longer than a pint.

Bottle. Maple and slightly sweet citrus. A bit flat in the mouth, but interesting nonetheless.

Slightly hazy copper coloured body with a rich, three centimetre tall pale tan head. Aroma of oak, alcohol, hops, earth, caramel and a good deal of bread/yeast. Light to Medium-bodied; Astringent hoppy flavour of herbs, grass and resin coupled with some metallic and herbal notes along with a touch of bitterness. Aftertaste shows a more refined and earthy flavour with some oak noticeable, hints of grass and herbs and a light floral finish. Overall, a decent and relatively - for the style - complex beer with some nice hoppy and dry grassy finishes. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in Alexandria, Virginia on 20-November-2014 for US$2,49 sampled at home in Washington when the Detroit Red Wings won Game 1 of the Best of 7 Series against Tampa Bay on 16-April-2015 sampled in my Michigan pint glass of course.

bottle - This one has a light, grainy, caramel malt aroma. The flavor is mild and it seems like something’s not right here. It’s very mild for the style and watery. The barrel is hardly noticeable if at all. Some people seem to be describing a different beer than my experience, so I’m thinking there’s a bad batch out there and I got one from it.

On tap @ FreshCraft Denver. Clear, golden orange appearance. Creamy, lasting tan head. Toasted malt, grass, herbs, rice, flowers in the nose. Fairly neutral aroma. Clean flavor profile albeit a bit bland. Creamy mouth feel. Light citrus. A little bit of spicy hops. Moderate bitterness. Medium low sweetness. Fine session ale but it doesn’t really stand out.

12oz bottle. Hmm. New school in that it makes you think "why would they ever put this in a barrel? what a bunch of newb DBs"...but then again it isn’t a booze barrel, the oak tones are sort of mellow and subdued, so all charges dropped. Medium bodied, very drinkable, sessionable. Tastes very English to me, not meant for UK raters to take umbrage to in any way. Just mild, easy, subdued. Not really a winner. Bland, soapy, mild wood notes. Meh.
