La Curtius is a blond beer brewed using premium quality products, recognizable through its light taste and refreshing flavors. Composed with different barley malts and wheat, its base gives it a pleasant lightness while the addition of aromatic hop blossoms provide a subtle bitterness in conjunction with a flowery and fruity flavor. Its unique and progressive taste is the result of multiple fermentation steps, conducted over several months. Curtius deserved a quality and prestigious bottle suitable for the contents. This is why we chose a 37.5 cl corked bottle, just like champagne. Of course, Curtius is also available in kegs.

Corked and caged bottle 37.5cl. A lot of yeast particles in the bottle, so pouring out had to be done carefully. Sour nose. Slightly unclear medium amber colour, small stable frothy white head, gradually diminishing to a thin layer, fair lacing. Sour aroma, overripe apples, yeast, light vinegar. Smooth taste, onset is light sweet and sour, apples, yeast, herbal notes, in the middle part taste becomes mild sweet and bitter, light sourish notes, apples and yeast, continues in aftertaste, light body, light prickly mouthfeel, watery texture, average carbonation. Peculiar brew, the taste evolution from a mild sweet and sour beer into an almost regular Belgian blond is somewhat disappointing, nevertheless easy to drink and all in all quite nice.

Light on excitement, lightly floral, easy going. Not offensive. Not hugely exciting.
